The current KBAP manual

Before I start, I'd like to clarify that I'm not sure if the KBAP manual for KBAP version 1.2 is fan-based or official, as it is currently distributed online on an Adobe Acrobat PDF document, 217 pages, filename: KBa_manual_1.2.0.1.pdf. I'm just saying this to avoid misunderstanding due to insufficient knowledge on my part :)

It will be really, really great if the current KBAP manual is translated in English as well. In my opinion, this is THE BEST manual I, personally, have ever seen and read. It is extremely descriptive and helpful - I doubt there is a subject in the game that it doesn't cover. It also gives very few spoilers, which is just perfect for a person who has just started the game. On its whopping 217 pages it contains everything from game basics to in-depth game mechanics that cover everything from gaining XP to complicated damage calculation formulas and built-in-game factors and coefficients in various complex calculations.

Is there any info whether this manual will pop up in English as well? It will be really great to present the English-speaking public with such amazing piece of art.

Metroplex 10-29-2009 12:04 AM

I think that is the fan manual, and to my knowledge, there was also one for KB:TL but it was never translated from the Russian into English, a shame really because it was great! (If only I could have read it!)

Elwin 10-29-2009 12:06 AM

KBL one was translated i had it.

Can you please post links to it if possible?, if not can you upload it so that others can read it in English, I have the Russian version which is quite useless because I can't understand it.:)

Use Google Translate - copy text into it. It does quite understandable translations.

Elwin 10-30-2009 10:54 AM

It was somewhere here on this forum ;s

Zhuangzi 10-30-2009 09:56 PM

It would be nice if someone could translate it properly. ;)

Tempo 12-30-2009 09:38 PM

Hi guys!
I was absent at this forum for a long time.
Is the fan's manual translation still actual? I can try to do it on holidays in January.
But there is one problem for me. I played KBAP only once for 2 hours, and that's all. I don't know this game in details. That's why I can do only automatical translation without 100% reliability of terms and names. Would it be suitable for you?

It would be better than nothing. :)

Tempo 01-04-2010 01:52 PM

The first 30 pages of KBAP fan's manual has been translated, here is the link (choose free downloading)
File size 32 Mb, format .doc. The file has such big size because of multiple graphical artwork (especially background), as in original manual.

But appendix of the game has been published by ivra on this forum. Therefor my question is, would I continue fan's manual translation or it isn't needed now?

Thank you SO much. I definitely say continue it. There's information in the manual that a simple appendix doesn't properly explain. Game mechanics, for one thing.

Re-uploaded automatically translated KB:TL fan's manual, 132 pages in .doc format, full version, 39 Mb.
Attention, this is translation of original game manual, not for Armored Princess! Until I have finished my work you can use this one instead.

Tempo 01-05-2010 11:25 PM

The next pages #31-69 of automatically translated manual you can find here (choose free downloading). File size: 26 Mb.
This pages includes Chapter 3, an Items. Please note that items names are given in direct translation and can be differ from its true names.

zhaozhilong 01-27-2010 06:40 AM

Can the KBAP manual be hosted at other sites ?

I tried downloading it but it seemed to be spawning "P$%N" related sites....

Please assist

Thank you very much Tempo!

This manual has all the info you need :-) Also, Google proves that translating from one language to another takes more than just some automatic procedures; it is understandable but not perfect. Intimate knowledge of both languages is still required, so we humans are not obsolete yet :-)

I created the appendix because of the lack of this information in the English manual (the one that followed the game installation). I see that the Russian speaking people were much luckier with this great manual at their disposal. At times like this I wish I mastered Russian so that I could have played the Russian version and had access to this manual from day 1. On the other hand, creating the appendix made me learn all the special abilities of the units + I got a good insight in all the items and spells as well...

WhYdOyOuThInKtHaThApPeNeD 02-10-2010 01:25 AM

Wow! Thanks Tempo & Ivra for those manuals and appendix. Really been wanting lots more detailed technical info. I also really appreciate that KBAP Info Thread that's stickyed up there.

DGDobrev 02-10-2010 01:47 AM

Well, the only problem is that this game manual is half of the info found in the russian fan manual. In the russian fan manual they have everything disected down to various formulae and calculations, boss behaviour, etc.

WhYdOyOuThInKtHaThApPeNeD 02-10-2010 02:02 AM

I would seriously love to see a collectors edition box set with massive complete manuals including everything of value floating around on the web, printed in a nice book with artwork.

Tempo 02-10-2010 07:26 AM

Course, this manual isn't translated entirely because my winter holiday was finished and I haven't enough free time for this job. I will continue this translation from time to time, but not so quickly as first two parts.
At this moment I have pages 70-217 converted to .doc format but not translated. If anyone interested in own translation (because of my busy or by any other reason) please write in this thread and I will upload that files for you.

The next pages 70-110 in English:

Unfortunately there is Word termination in case of quick pages leafing very often on my PC. I don't know where is mistake in file, the original file in russian is correct. If you can correct the file please do it.
Else just leaf pages slowly.

Tempo 02-28-2010 05:28 PM

Tempo, are you still working on translating KBAP manual? or do you need some help?

marcinl0 08-17-2010 07:28 PM

Yes, the KBAP english manual is extremally useful, please go on and finish for all of us.

Petwin 09-02-2010 12:40 AM

That is the manual that comes with the english version of the game. The russian manual contains a lot more info.

Tempo, what about pages 131-217 in english - please for us all....

Tempo 09-04-2010 09:23 PM

Hi guys!
I had stopped translation by two reasons:
1st. There is problem with background graphics disappearance on pages 131-144, when I tried to translate it. Those pages translation is ready in fact, but with cracked artwork.
2nd and main. I didn't saw any interest from gamers in this thread after February. If nobody interested in this job, why I have to do it? It takes a lot of time for me, and even thanks from gamers is so seldom.
Therefor my wish to finish translation is not so great as your want. If I will have wish I will do it, but don't promise.

marcinl0 09-05-2010 03:44 PM

Thank a lot for your very valuable work on KBAP manual Tempo.

bukimi 09-10-2010 07:30 AM

Great job on translating!
I think I am not the only one interested in complete manual.
A bit cracked artwork would not be a big loss. Or maybe try to edit it in pdf instead of doc.

I hope you will continue your great effort.

PS. Is your manual free to be translated into other languages and posted elsewhere (with link to original)?

Tempo 09-11-2010 07:59 PM

The next pages 131-157 in English:
http://letitbit.net/download/71309.7...1-157.zip.html
http://depositfiles.com/files/u3pqrejrs
http://ul.to/ox110w
This file consist of first part of chapter VII (Game Mechanics) with formulas and calculation examples. Background artwork loads slowly and will appear after few seconds delay.

marcinl0 09-11-2010 08:13 PM

Fantastic work Tempo! Thanks!

Game mechanics is IMHO the most interesting part of the KBAP manual.

bukimi 09-12-2010 10:33 AM

Wow! That was a lot of text to translate!
Great job! A lot of info is really useful and unique.
I have no problems with artwork. Everything works fine :)

What about translations to other languages? Is this text copyrighted or people are free to translate and post it somewhere?

Vidocq666 09-12-2010 11:43 AM

I just saw this, thanks so much for the translation!

I don't know. Try to ask the authors of the manual, Spamm is one of them. I just translate the manual with all copyrights and authors names on the first page.

I managed to fix slow loading times and background lag by converting it to .pdf. Converting also reduced its size to just over 1mb (compared to almost 15mb in form of word document). Anyway I uploaded it as attachment here.

P.S. I appreciate your hard work on this project m8, thank you

Good idea with .pdf, maybe it is possible with all the parts of Tempo's english KBAP manual?

Tempo 09-12-2010 06:00 PM

Good work, mare911. I had tried this conversion in the past, but my result was not so good as your. Anyway .doc format is more editable (that usefull for translation) and .pdf is more comfortable.
You can convert other parts of manual if you wish.

bukimi 09-12-2010 06:33 PM

If you do convert other pages, please consider creating one single file with all pages in it.

@Tempo - are there more pages waiting for translation or is it finished? :)

Tempo 09-12-2010 07:05 PM

Ok, I will continue translation in my free time to complete this job )

I converted your work so far (page 1-157) into single PDF, 12.5mb and attached it below.

When you finish rest of the manual ill append missing part and upload full PDF again

marcinl0 09-12-2010 11:08 PM

Very good work. One pdf file is very useful.

I have small translate note: in game (Drako) is "treasure searcher" not "selector". Or "Mystic Egg".

shinjiikuri 09-19-2010 04:24 AM

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you guys are doing. Hopefully you guys are still at it! :)

marcinl0 09-19-2010 02:34 PM

Thanks first at all to Tempo for hard work and mare911 for fine pdf file.

http://ul.to/m64dwa
Second part of chapter VII (Game Mechanics): Generation of Objects on the Map and Characteristics of Bosses.
I hope to finish translation of the manual in the next two weeks.

And now about translation to other languages, I found the permission from one of authors, Magic_Art, in russian forum: http://kingsbounty.ru/forum/index.ph...ic=3566&st=260
The question and answer are both in Russian and English.

thanks again!

marcinl0 10-03-2010 05:19 PM

Really fantastic work, thanks Tempo!

Yes, single pdf with manual would be more than useful.

mare911 10-03-2010 06:35 PM

As promised, I created single PDF:
