Variation on a screen shot.

Hi guys (and gals?)

First post and I'm a bit worried about it cos I'm not sure if the pic is going to be too big but I'll give it a go. The Mods will have to delete it if they see fit and I'll have a go at reducing it.

Loving the game BTW but don't get on-line as much as I'd like due to not being able to connect wirelessly (long story, and long patch lead!) but next time I do go on I shall be moving on up to realistic after reading the forum. Been practising and it turns out I'm only a little more rubbish on realistic than I am on arcade so if you see 'taxrik' playing CTA and fancy racking up your points my six will be unguarded!

Anyhow, I'm sure any UK guys on here will remember 'Commando comics'? . . . (Story is a bit duff but this was the first experiment)

Excellent post! That works so well. Love the gun-cam effect. A sortie told in just 10 brilliant screenies!!!:grin:

Very nice I loved it. You used a mac didn't you?

rik 10-17-2009 06:00 PM

Thanks for the kind comments, it's a bit of fun isn't it? There's another knocking about on a drive somewhere but I'll have to get it hosted first, i'll sort that later.

And sorry trk, not a mac but a cranky old VAIO lappy, photoshop and MS Publisher.

And you know what dazz, I think I remember reading a commando comic about defiants too!!!

Awesome job...in the US we had Sgt. Rock or Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos.

Reddisback 10-17-2009 06:08 PM

What a great idea, well implemented :)

They should hire you for the sequel's marketing campaign...

Draupnir2 10-19-2009 02:51 PM

Excellent post ! It really captures the atmosphere :)

Good job dude!

I remember seeing some stuff like this on the PC IL-2 forums, and isn't there a way you can "cartoon-ify" images with a lot of the more decent art programs? It would be a shame to lose the awesomeness of the BoP graphics, but it could also look quite cool if done correctly.

Oh HELL YEAH!!!!

You could try to posterize it with Photoshop.. but cartooning basically means removing details :P. It'd both work out if done correctly.

Apple actually has a program that comes standard just for creating comics, but I have never used it.

Like this? But Yeah, I actualy think its better without it. Maybe with slight ink lines instead of this?

Edit: Or maybe looks better with unedited landscape?

The second one is more toward what I was thinking off (Although maybe apply the filter even more to get an even more basic look, as the old comics weren't all that detailed)

Fair point though, its such a beautiful game that it really is a shame to deliberately ruin the graphics.
