DLC on xbox market place BUT no title update

400 POINTS!!!! wth!!! no chance, I paid for a finished game, not a half finished game for me to purchase the rest of it!, lazy cheap skates!

I dont think it is THAT much.. its like 5 euros. The people who ordered via game.com to get the P-47 pre order, payed 10 euros more than via amazon.
Since we also get some missions now, I think it is a good deal compared to the pre-order P-47 via game.com.

but both planes suck... and I love the P-47 IRL, I'm going to wait and see whether the title update improves things and what you get for that (because it was my understanding the P-47 was coming with that, and the Focke was reduced to 1xFW victory.) but personally I'm not forking out for 2 planes I SHOULD be getting for free, because EVERY other game ALWAYS gives away any pre-order stuff after a while anyway, and also I don't care for single player missions. I know there will be some who think this is good, and those that enjoy SP and are willing to stump up 400MS points, and that's cool, its just my personal opinion that its a cheap rip off, and once again makes me consider trading it in, in order to get the saboteur next year. I'm really hoping the title update fixes the majority of the problems. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the game, its the best console flight sim ever made, and the best the consoles will probably EVER see, but It's not living up to what I'd hoped.

What SP missions are they? A new theatre or just added ones to the current ones?

It does completely suck that this small DLC is here before the title update :confused:.
Im going to wait with the DLC, if the game is fixed after the update, I will be more than happy to buy the DLC

Its a joke!!! i've just wasted 400mps to DL it and i feel robbed.

For the sake of the DLC they havent even fixed the P47 they have just thrown the broken one into the DLC which its a joke.

They should of sorted the patch FIRST and then given us this!! Yes you get a few extra missions...ALL that use the P47 which flies like a brick. Honestly its like flying a freight train. This was a bad bad call on my part for DL it.

Anton, you guys have worked wonders with this game and all credit to you, but you are a forum regular and know whats goes on etc!!! so why in the hell did you put this on the market place as it was?? are you under pressure to rob us of more cash?

I'm happy and glad to see dlc out so soon. TU is about to leave the office, up to publisher and MS/Sony when it gets out.
Gaijin is doing a bang up job, most of the bigger game companies don't pay this much attention or get material out so fast.

It is not the devs choice to put it on the market now. It is the choice of the publisher. Probarbly the devs also liked to see the patch first. But that one takes time due to sony and MS. Its just a bad choice of the publisher to release the DLC before the patch has been approved :(

Its one thing to get it out fast, its another to release crap fast that costs people money. Yes its nice to know they are doing something and haven't just kicked back and put their feet up while laughing manically whilst rubbing there hands together at all the undeserved money they'll be wrenching from hard working people's pockets through the form of MS Points.

point being, release worthwhile good things, not crap that costs. Roll on the title update, THAT will be a true test of what they're willing to do for the fans and not the publishers.

On the plus side....

the P47 does look nice. Gret and green camo and d-day stripes on wing. Nice looking bird.

I would strongly suggest that nobody purchases this yet as the 400 msp could go to better use elsewhere as no doubt some DLC for other games you want will be out etc. Wait until the patch is out and then DL it :D

But each to their own.

It's a flipping disgrace releasing paid for dlc BEFORE the first patch is out. Especially when so many of the fixes should EASILY have been picked up in pre-release testing.

Well it's just fine with me, and a bargain IMO.
It's not like game companies that just release the same no-effort crap from game to game, like Streets/Killhouse in Rainbow or reskinning a COD2 map to release in COD4. That's the kind of thing that gets under my skin.
Doesn't bother me if we get dlc a little while before a TU, since the dev's have had extensive contact with us and actual dialogues about what needs to be fixed.

Only p-47 in the DLC or TA also? both have cockpits?

We've finished woking on DLC before the game appears on market.
You probably not understand, that it is two-three months from the game is ready till it's release on a market.
QA, approval, manufacture is a long-time process for consoles.

You seriously think, that it is even possible to make and release DLC in a less then month (today is 05'10, the game was released in 04'09)?
We've started make title update after release, when DLC was ready and submitted to MS.

Game is bad - do not buy it. Nobody buys - no sequel than, and noone is making 'those crappy games' again.
DLC is 'disgrace' - don't buy it. Nobody buys - no new DLC will appear, and nobody will pretend to get your money before, the same time, or after anything (title update or whatever).

i have a modded flight stick but still find the game no fun more a chore in single player the dead zone kills it on realistic and sim,id use the controller but its setup wrong for me at the monment (i fly rc planes mode 2 for years and just cant get my thumbs to work the other way (my fault i guess)

anyway my point is i love the genaral gameplay but am waiting for update to fix the multiplayer and other bugs and control customization

ps a ETA on game update would be great i.e a week ,a month ,a few days

Stop crying. This is the first, and the best sim release for a console. Anybody that don't think so? Then you should speak up, and leave the game, and forum behind. if you think it is? Then support the game and development of it, and future releases and sequils. If you don't like it, or want anything in the future for something like BOP, then just walk away...

I am poor too, and don't like spending money, but, if there is something I like, and approve of, even if there are some issues, and there always will be with any software developments, I will support it to assure there will be a future with it...

I'm guessing this DLC is also now on the PlayStation Network too???

If so, I'll be buying soon!! I'm looking forward to some more single player missions...

it might not be the best dlc i.e paying for planes that should really(but arent because the stupid shop messed up my pre order) be free an a couple of missions but if no one buys it then there wont be an incentive to release more.maybe what they could do is give a way a bunch of codes to get it for free to some forum members..

I, in no way, either approve or disapprove of how things are done. I recall from way back when many of (I am assuming "us") were directly talking with Oleg Maddox, and things took time to sort out. Yes, in sim mode, there are definitely some issues that hardcore sim buffs are going to pick out. However, someone else has already stated, the console platform has to reach a wider audience. I understand that, but would still very much like to see some fixes. That being said, if I can scrounge up the spare coin to purchase some DLC, if it goes (and I feel it does) towards bettering this experience, then I am all for it, and will do so even if the aircraft are slightly buggered. I've said it before, I'm a hardcore 190 fan, but as of right now, it's not what it should be. Hopefully it'll get fixed. One thing I can say, is that the devs had always very seriously taken their audiences input into consideration. I don't think that's going to change, because when they put out a quality product, we'll keep buying it.

Why is everyone so negative about the DLC? Ok, so they released it before the update, but we still know it's coming. People have been asking for the P-47 for ages to be released, now it's here, and you still complain? Ok, you have to pay 5 euros, but the game was relatively cheap to begin with (i.e. not priced like most other new games) and there's a little extra content. You thought they'd just throw us goodies for free, just because we are 'a loyal forum community' or something. The fact that the devs stay personal with us on the forums doesn't mean they have to treat us like friends. There's many games that release PDLC that actually isn't worth that much (not saying this isn't, I haven't got it yet).

I support that as well.

A DLC is just a DLC... with few content for a small price. we are not on PC where small addons are just for free.

Just choose the DLC with the planes that you really want to fly. Like P38 lightening ;) ;)

Sorry Seraph but here I disagree with you, the game was priced at full price £40 GBP here. THAT is why some have a problem, others got it alot cheaper. THAT'S why ANOTHER £5 is an insult.

yeh it was £40 at game..but cos they messed my preorder an didnt have my code the manager knocked £10 off for me.rather woulda had the codes though

Still, it's optional, won't impair gameplay if you don't buy it, and has nothing in it that's necessary to have in any way. I can imagine you're pissed (ok.. I can't, but I'm not judging you on that or anything) but there's not really a reason to start flaming this DLC, and the release of it.

Well I for one will buy it. If it means I will get some more missions and more planes. I said from the beginning I would buy anything they put out for this game because I was a die hard fan of the original and I love flight, and I love my ps3

Im with you, because I too am a die hard simulator fan, especially flight. I have been wanting a good flight simulation type game for some time. A year ago, I was planning to build a powerhouse gaming PC at the cost of about $1500, JUST to do some good flight sim on it, with good realistic graphics, and speed. Then, my gamer son told me about BOP for the PC, and I was more stoked about building that 4 figure gamer box just for it. Then just before I dropped that $1500 for PC parts, my son told me that BOP was going to be released for the XBox 360. I didn't have one of those, because I have never been much of a gamer. But, I did know the Xbox had great graphics even though it had some QA issues. But, hell, I priced those and at under $300, I could get the graphics I wanted, and another $50 for BOP when it was released, that is a HUGE cry away from the nearly $2000 I was going to drop for a PC build, and software. So, I bought the 360 in anticipation of the release of BOP, and enjoyed other stuff while I waited (Like Baja, another great off road sim game). I pre-ordered BOP as soon as I was able too, and with a game library of 12-15 titles, some upgrades to my 360, I am still WAY under that original buget for a gaming PC. So, as for myself, i am truly thankful for the developers work on making a good flight sim for the console, and hope that they get the support they need to stay with it... I plan to continue my support of them, to keep supporting my simulator habit...

Don't get me wrong, I want it, I want the P-47 and the TA-152, i just don't see why it should cost me MORE than a full price game, to have what everyone should have. but £40 is alot for me and my girlfriend at the minute, (Thank god its my birthday next week so that I could use the opportunity to acquire Modern Warfare 2 and Operation Flashpoint 2) every other console game with Pre-order stuff allows you to unlock it or GIVES it you a few months later. They don't make you pay for it. And I'm curious about the bastogne missions, I have great interest in the battle of the bulge. I'm not flaming, I just think they're really taking the piss, be it Microsoft, the devs, or the publishers, whoever is responsible for it. (And I didn't know that DLC was done well before release date, like Anton said, that's new, but it does make sense) And I don't even care that its out before the TU, I don't care cus the TU will fix the plane issues etc. it's all gravy, it's SOLELY the price that peeves me. JUST that, NOTHING else.

If you guys paid £40 you bought it at the wrong place. Tesco had/has it on sale from Release day at £30. I get all my games at Tesco now simply because Game/Gamestation are taking the piss on prices and on trade-ins.

I was in Gamestation yesterday picking up an MS racing wheel (another story) and I spotted that they wanted £50 for the new Marvel game, £45 for DiRT2, and had a shelf space with pre-order markers for Forza 3 price set to £50.

Now thats seriously taking the piss. And IIRC it might actually be illegal for them, because back in the 90's the EU passed a law stating that no computer game could charge above a pre-set maximum price and it could ONLY charge the max if the game contained new technology. Hence why some games made on pre-made engines (Unreal Engine etc) are cheaper to buy new.

Could one of you English fellows please explain what the phrase "taking the piss" actually means? I've heard it used in several different contexts here and in books and I'm confused. Just curious is all.

I LOVE THIS GAME! I will buy the DLC. I really don’t want anything in it but I will buy it just to support the game. I am fairly fortunate that I still have a few extra dollars in my pocket even with the recession and all…actually I am lucky to have kept my job, they layed off most of the people in my department…I just missed the bullet. So I am a bit luckier then most…I would not expect anyone who is having a hard time during this recession to buy a DLC they did not want, but for the rest of us, if you really like this game and want it to succeed just go ahead and buy the DLC…in fact...Anton, can I buy two?...:-)

Since you are amoung the fortunate ones, and want to buy it simply in support, then buy one or two codes of it and give them out to someone that is less fortunate. It helps your fellow gamers that love the game, but are less fortunate, AND supports the cause.. Just a suggestion. And no, I am not aiming for a free code, because I am far from wealthy BUT the good Lord has been good to me and helping me keep my head above water in this bad economy. Anyway.. I love the game so much myself, I actually bought 3 copies of it, one for myself, and two for a couple friends that didn't have the funds and wanted it bad too. just a suggestion..

I didn't find out about BoP soon enough to take advantage of any preorder bonus, is what's in the DLC the exact same thing as the preorder goodies?

the 2 planes were a pre order bonus..in the dlc you get them an a couple of single missions

ive been working hardly i ditch alot of work i work for dad seasonal so i can afford it its ony 5 bux as much as a sixpak of beer i just want the freakin update so game handels better

We're talking the cost of two lattes, or a steak, or about a gallon of gas, none of which will last you an hour and a half, so I figure its a good deal :)

I too was amazed (stateside at least) how cheap the game was for an 'A' rank new release. And as others have said, support the game if you want to see more like it. It may not be everything you want now (same with the DLC) but if it bombs out, there won't be anymore made, so you'll never get what you're wanting.

sorry for the delay in reply, I was about to but my connection dropped out for 3 hours :( anyway yes of course, I have two off the top of my head that I personally have experience of, and that is Fuel, and Tom Clancy's Hawx. Fuel sucks FYI, but Hawx is a good game if you like jets, easily superior to the ace combat series. but yes both shipped with pre-order stuff still available to every other buyer, you just had to unlock it, not BUY it.

Fair enough, but I believe you may have overstated when you said that every console game's pre order bonuses are later given out, or unlocked for free. Two games that immediately come to mind that have not released their pre order content are Forza Motorsports 2 and Army of two. The only way to get the pre order content from these games is with a unique one time code that was given out to pre order customers, or the friends of the game store's employees.

compared to say the Spitfire the P-47 did fly like a freight train. a lot of pilots who transferred from spitfires too P47s hated it.

just remember the spitfire is a turn n burn fighter the p47 is a boom n zoom fighter

It just tried the P-47 in a few games. It is even worse to fly than the P-51 with full fuel tanks.
it does not have the speed you need for a boom and zoom fighter. And its turn is so risiculous, that if you manage to get behind someone, even the smallest turn will shake you. really, at spit pulling half the turn it could do, will still turn 2x as fast as the P-47.

There is no way even the best Bop gamer can even think about getting a 1:1 k/d against a rookie

if the P47 was SOOO bad then it wouldnt be an iconice aircraft of WW2 would it? it wouldnt of been given the great reviews it has.

Whats a DLC and is this only available via the XBox connected to XBox live?

(As for the P47, they are a tough old bird but, even on my other combat flight sims, they don't perform anywhere close to the P52's and Spits. May be thats just how they were)

If one person has paid DLC and other doesn't (but both updated with latest version), can they play online together?

I just hope the paid DLC doesn't fragment the online players.

DLC is downloadable content, yes its on the Xbox, and you only need xbox SILVER which is FREE, HOWEVER you do stil need the 400 microsoft points for this individual piece of DLC.

but it doesnt matter who does or doesnt have it. No fragmentation.

The devs don't even know that, so no one else has a hope in hell.

The developers spend a certain amount of time and money making a game. You choose to either buy it or not. If you buy it, you're buying exactly the game that they made and are selling you at that time, not everything that they may make for it in the future, or everything that you believe should have been in the game to start with.

both planes a big pile o poo...although the p47 does have monstrous bomb/rocket capability..

anyone care to chime what the missions are like? More of same?

missions are ok.but are more of the same.but the last one has the best sight you will get in this game i think..a huge flight of B-17's,it looks dam sweet

Done a few missions so far. Seems same as the others. Ground attack in one of them, then defending your bombers against those rocket powered flying triangles the Germans had. Having poor luck with that one, they are rather faaaaaast :) Been listening to the other poor pilots getting riddled via my radio for nearly 30 minutes!
