Would be nice if the links worked. very frustrating.

csThor 10-02-2009 05:52 PM

The webmaster of sturmovik.de reports a constant network load of 100% for the last 5 hours.

Luffe 10-02-2009 05:58 PM

Maraz, all the files from that site are incomplete. For example the 4.09m is 410MB when really it should be 567MB.

NeroMoura 10-02-2009 05:59 PM

Thank you DT and 1C for another batch of countless hours of sheer fun

myotherdrive FTW.

still though have to wait since both my main and torrent pc are due for reimaging . . .

Chromius 10-02-2009 09:32 PM

That Torrent is quite fast at the moment. I am in NZ and it took about 20 minutes at 900-1250 kbps. I tried a couple other links before the torrent but they were slow due to load or something.

Providing two stable mirrors from Sweden:
(better late than never I guess)

International version only
Please read the installation instructions HERE
No registration or anything fuzzy needed, just chose one of these links for the files, two mirrors provided:

Will add the skins tomorrow!
Thank you DT and MG!

proton45 10-02-2009 11:07 PM

I see a lot of people complaining about incomplete downloads...is the proper size 566 MB for the executable, and 260 MB for the skins?

Paraflares or Mk-24 Flares

I'm glad that this upgrade has been released.

I am also glad you're using the model I have created for paraflares (Originally Mk-24 Flares). Unfortunately in the credits of Letov S-328 (that use it) are only for Daidalos Team......Maybe you have forgotten my name

can we have a normal torrent for this ? without having to sign up for memberships in various websites like the mission4today forces you ?

or can somebody post the actual real torrent link so we can bypass the forced signup ?

edit: all is well, 12hrs later the .de download worked fine, 50 kbsec all the way

Many thanks!

Hello Flakiten. Para flares have been offered to us as a bonus loadout option for Letov by Magot (who is credited). If this is your work or if you have cooperated with him, I see 2 solutions. We either add your credits in our next release or we remove the flares in our next release. Please let me know what you prefer. Thanks.

Hi, thank you very much for the update and the mirrors!
How about a torrent for the skins aswell?

Genosse 10-03-2009 07:08 AM

Danke! Danke! Danke!

I´m quite grateful for releasing this long awaited patch. I´ve been flying this sim now for seven years and I´m really delighted that it still gets improved by more or less official side ... at least supported.

I´d like to see more improvements being done on this wonderful piece of software. There´re already some interesting ideas out there in the IL-2 community which are IMHO considerably worth to be included into future patches ...

Nonetheless, thank you DT for creating this patch, Oleg and Crew for not letting the IL-2 community down although you guys are obviously quite busy with other projects and finally all virtual pilots flying, loving and hating IL-2 so often/much ...

S!

I have no problem that my work will be distributed free to the entire community.
I like doing it for fun and for the use of the people.
But I do not like to see other names as credits in my work.

Magot send me a PM and I am sending a PM to you to talk about.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Thanks for the great work!

The new Biplane is now my favourite one, it tolerates the most ridiculous manoeuvres €:-]

Where can one buy this plane in real life ( in case of me being rich some day @:-| )?

mkubani 10-05-2009 10:11 AM

Tricoder, a track? Or real constructive/descriptive comment?

Avia B-534 has been tested at least by 2 real life pilots (one military one, one civilian one) during 4.09 beta-testing. They had no issues with it's FM. They found the flight characteristics believable and solid.

Is it a hope that old planes also would be corrected in future - mostly in performance values ? I mean at least such planes:

- Spitfires MK V - atually we have hybride version with too low speed at sea level and too good climb rate - it doesnt not represent any known data for Spits MK V

- Fw 190 A series - acceleration bug - all Fw 190 A accelerate too slow in game. I know where it is these bug in Fw 190 A FM data ( it was actually fixed in some new added ones)

- many 109 types has wrong data and not accurate performance ( e.x 109 E-4, 109 G-2, 109 6 A/S)

- P-51 with its wing broken during high speed manouvers and directional unstabilty - it could be fixed in simple way

and some others - I dont mention here most dubfully russian planes like LA familly series.

It is hope that it would be fixed in normal official patch relase that we all could have the same basic version not in many second hand mods?

Our squad has a pilot who flew Hellcats (and also early jets) off carriers and was an engineering for Boeing aircraft, yet Oleg refused what he was told..
and was told in extremely legnthy details.. in the mathmetics of the flight models..

Many, many pages of aeronotcal info was passed on to Oleg..

so, it doesn't seem to matter if you bring in real people and engineers, Oleg was only interested in leveling the playing field so they would fly as he imagned they flew..

Not Bashing Oleg and his team, as he did his best,,, but when it came down to fixing the problems and listening they abandoned the allied planes..

So now some of you new comers can see some of the history that came about when many of these planes were added a few years ago..

Thank you Daidalos Team! You will makee so many of us happy with your efforts and your continuing work and patch 4.09!

Problem: Anecdotal stuff can't be used to base FM numbers on it.

That's actually quite a low blow. There are more than a few axis aircraft which do have serious issues as well and most were not even acknowledged, either. Having FM/DM issues is no question of Red or Blue (or even nation or not), but simply a result of a myriad of issues Maddox Games as a business entity had to deal with and which all impacted on how deeply they could afford to delve into issues. I'm learning something new every day over at the Daidalos board and some things are becoming logical if you look at them from the perspective of a developer who has to calculate manpower and financial input vs potential financial gain.

totally agreed with tihs comment, i say the same as you said, fw190 in the real life is capable to reach 1800hp without any boost, in the game the fw190A have only 1400hp, 400hp less, thats is the reason

csThor 10-05-2009 07:03 PM

Not necessarily. The BMW 801 D-2 was not cleared for the full 1700PS Take-Off performance right away, but was derated (= blocking Take-Off and Emergency performance settings via putting a screw into the throttle's way). This was done to minimize the danger of engine damage and to prolong its life which eased logistical questions. But of course pilots had different ideas about it and so they chose power (when necessary) over safety in numbers. ;)

Wrong.
-less hp can be compensated by other parameters from both engine and airframe parameters and usually is (does it reach correct max speed even with low hp? Why?)
-ingame FW190A4 does not have only 1400hp, it has more than 1800.
You can't rely on one number from some stranger on internet without knowing context and meaning of other numbers around.

@ramstein: if you still have that info, please post it on forum or send to DT mail. It could be very interesting read.

well, I know the person who has it, or had it, I am pretty sure they were exaserbated after the whole thinhg, and not sure if they will help again... they pretty much gave up and was resigned to the problems never being fixed.. I wil ask them very soon, if they would provide it, but I am pretty sure the package they have and submitted was not just a forum post, it was very heavy information.. so They would probably need direct communication... and it would have to be taken serious... not just forum banter.. this person is a professional...

We will try to fix everything that we can and that it can be backuped with documentation.

Spits-If you have some info about the Spits you can PM me, I know that it is possible to find lot of info at "Spitfireperformance" but if you have already found most representative variants than you could save me some time. Mostly interested in MkV and early MkIX.

FW-I would hardly call it a bug although low speed acceleration could be better IMO. I don't see, though, how would that improvement be of much help for average pilot unless you over do it. If I'm not mistaken you made some FW's for Ultrapack and just by looking at FM files I would say that these FW's are too optimistic. You can PM me what you think would be realistic performance of FW and I'll see what can be done.

Bf109-they are strange in general, major rework of whole family wouldn't hurt IMO.

P51-now I'm curious, I would love to hear what you think should be done to make plane behave correctly.

Thank you very much Team!
My FPS are the best i have ever seen, and the aircraft flicker is gone, and now i am able to run water 2. I could not run perfect with 4.08 or 4.09 beta.
Thanks for what ever your team did.

Hello guys and Developer team,

One observation I have concerning to the Fw-190 D9 and refering to its turning rate and handling, it's its tendency to stall with a very gentle pulling of the stick. As historical references show, the "Dora" while being slower in the rolling ability compared to its earlier versions ( Fw A series) it was superior in every other way, including of course, turning rate, climbing, etc etc... Most of these characteristics I find accurate in the game, however the turning ability I consider it to be a bit messed up, and I believe the Dora show offer a bit more control in turns than it currently does in game.

For developing references you can visit:

Thanks!

Dora 9 turning ability in game

Thanks for posting the article on the Dora 9 'lep 1981'. This summary very accurately describes the performance of the Dora 9.
I think the aircraft is very faithfully modelled in the game and just takes practice to get a grip on it.
If you keep up your speed in a turning fight it will hold its own with the Spitfire. If you turn too sharply it will easily flick into a spin, which is fatal if you are near the ground - this is what happened to a lot of young inexperienced German pilots in III/JG54 and I/JG26.

For Team Daidalos I would like them to fix a couple of things with the aircraft. (I am enjoying the fantastic 4.09 upgrade - well done)

The AI aircraft from a distance have a large 'graphic hole' in the fuselage. This has been a fault all the way through the history of the game. I would also like to see the aircraft model modified to carry a 250kg bomb and droptank?

That's actually quite a low blow. There are more than a few axis aircraft which do have serious issues as well and most were not even acknowledged, either. Having FM/DM issues is no question of Red or Blue (or even nation or not), but simply a result of a myriad of issues Maddox Games as a business entity had to deal with and which all impacted on how deeply they could afford to delve into issues. I'm learning something new every day over at the Daidalos board and some things are becoming logical if you look at them from the perspective of a developer who has to calculate manpower and financial input vs potential financial gain.

I said aeronautical (sorry, the first time I spelled it wrong..) info, I did not say ancedotal... please re-read.._

also, I talked to him and he said he would be willing to give it another go and communicate with the people who are making the patches..

Is there an e-mail address I can pass on to the pilot and engineer so he can chat with you (the powers that be..and send you the info you need?

Thanx..

Interesting stuff here, however I only have one wish(I have full confidence others will be looked at :) ) and that's 20mm for G10/G14 as a loadout option...

Also is there a possibility of a DT's FW190A3? I know we have A4 and that A3 maybe wouldn't be a needed so much but as a FW nutcase I have to ask ;)

Thanks team, looks fantastic.

Sad to read the Sm79 was such a failure. So many aircraft lost for such small rewards! I always thought it was a success. But I suspect alot of those losses were in the later part of the italian war.

Just seeing the...53.13 MB of the 4.09 guide, you can only say: OMG!!!

Guys, thank you so much for this fantastic work.
You totally deserve our respect!!!

Thanks a lot to Team Daidalos and 1C Company for this release. Outstanding work, really!

Can anyone tell me if this is compatable with AAA & SAS Mods up to but not including the most recent AAA U.I. 1.2 Installer?

Go into your il2 directory and overwrite your "conf.ini." with a blank file.
Delete any and all .dll files you find in your il2 file.

Install 4.09m and you'll be fine

Can you quickly walk me thru overwriting conf.ini file? If I do this won't I loose all of the Map notations for QMT?
All .dll files found in the il2 folder or a file in the folder somewhere?
Thanks for your patience I do want to give this a try!

Lucas_From_Hell 10-16-2009 04:49 PM

Just do a back-up.

Rename it to "Conf_ORG.ini" (my suggestion, of course. I always rename it to filename_ORG.filetype. Makes it easier to undo any sort of sh... you may make with it.)

I guess that by "Blank" he means to create a notepad file, save it with nothing written on it, and rename it to "Conf.ini". That should do the trick (I'm no mod-user, but, if I got right what Eries said, this should work).

Question about beta version

Thanks to DT

I liked the beta version, especially the Slovakia map. The FM mods were a distinct improvement.

OK, now: will this version install over v4.09b1?

If not, then how do I get rid of the beta?

Thank you
