Forgottenfighter 10-01-2009 06:07 PM

Your join date anniversary, congrats

Tree_UK 10-01-2009 06:08 PM

Yeah come on Oleg, we forgive you for September, show us some in game screenshots has promised.

HFC_Dolphin 10-01-2009 06:41 PM

Among other things, waiting for SoW I've had 3 children :o)

Maybe I should start a new topic telling what I've done all these years that SoW is in development. Should be interesting if we all did this :-)

That is one thing, (congrats by the way) but how many people have died while waiting for SOW:BOB?? Can Oleg live with the great amount of people who has gone to their graves with their prayers unheard, their hopes crushed???

In heaven they already have SoW:BoB and it's 20 expansions. So the people who went to their graves are in better place...

And I bet I'll see the opening of next World Cup before I see an in game footage of SOW.

Beautiful screenshots, Jurinko! I'm really looking forward to the Slovakia winter-map.
Do you have any clue about when it is due for release?

Every fortnight?

Thunderbolt56 10-02-2009 12:12 PM

Green Day just woke me up because September has ended, but I'm still sleepy. If something exciting doesn't happen in the next day or so, I'm going back to sleep. Besides, it's finally starting to feel like Fall and the weekend fast approaches...party time!

Tree_UK 10-06-2009 06:57 AM

Its interesting how Oleg says that they are still developing the engine, I thought he had said in previous interviews that this was already completed?

furbs 10-06-2009 07:30 AM

also... i thought Oleg had always said his team and him had nothing to do with BOP?

i think we can see now why SOW has taken so long.

Feuerfalke 10-06-2009 08:27 AM

He didn't say anything different - just the writer of the article concluded, that IL2 and IL2 BOP must be from the same team.

Infact Oleg states what his findings were with BOP and what "they" achieved. I doubt he'd say so, if he was infact working on BOP.

@ Tree_UK:
Changes and adaptions to the engine will continue even after the release. Please remember that new flightmodells, effects and support for modern hardware was worked on for 8 years after the release of IL2. ;)

Tree_UK 10-06-2009 09:27 AM

Hmmm, Oleg doesn't make it clear that he was not involved in BOP although he has strenously denied it in the past, If this is true he will not be at all happy with the opening statement to this article,

Oleg Maddox, the founder of Maddox Games and the force behind highly acclaimed IL-2 1946 PC title and more recently IL-2: Birds of Prey, takes time out of his schedule to discuss the history, heritage and challenges he and his team faced creating what are now considered to be some of the best flight sim games.

Feuerfalke 10-06-2009 10:56 AM

Now, if Oleg is happy with the statement is surely a different question, but as I posted, your quote is the only indication that OM is directly involved in the product and it is largely the only thing in this article that OM didn't say.

In all seriousness (at my own risk_lol)...why would Oleg lie about it? What would the advantage be?

Tree_UK 10-06-2009 08:01 PM

Thats a very good question, ............

hang on, I'll ask Feuerfalke he'll know.

TheGrunch 10-06-2009 08:17 PM

Is there any point is speculating? Quite seriously, I don't really understand why you guys are so bothered if he's involved with BoP. I'll be very, very glad if the game is a financial success, it'll reassure publishers that flight-sims are very much worth investing in, which can only be a good thing.

There is no point besides someones own desire to satisfy thier need for moaning and wailing about something or anything. Care to guess who ? lmao

Most folks come here for honest questions and to look for and enjoy relavent information. But there is obviously a juvenile few who come with an axe to grind against Oleg for some perceived slight.

After all , Oleg owes them and he needs to jump through every hoop they raise , doesnt he? :o:o

Lol !!!

Eris

TheGrunch 10-06-2009 08:45 PM

Jeez, why don't you all just chill out, guys? Unnecessarily irate, the lot of you. Have a cup of tea. Shoot down a few big juicy AI bombers. :) Look at the SOW renders and drool a bit inadvertently. Incidentally, there has been an ingame shot, despite what you guys keep saying. 10 points to the first person to show me it.

EDIT: Actually, all image URLs in Oleg's thread are dead. Something about to happen, d'you think?

Feuerfalke 10-06-2009 08:54 PM

It's just another episode in the BoB-soap.

Did Oleg really betray us? Did he really bitch around with BOP just to make some money instead of working on some precious gems for us? ;)

Will Oleg listen to the Luftwhiners and pork everything without a black cross? Perhaps he'll appease the 51 flyers and make them into the flawless, invincible killing machines they *actually* were (BE SURE!). Are .50 cal guns even REAL? Is there really such a thing as a three-headed monkey? All this and more in the next episode of Storm of Forum: Battle of Bitching!

Well I think it would of made sound financial sense for him to do so, it's just a little strange that when he was once asked if any of the work on BOP was from his own team that he went to some lengths to deny it. It's not relevant on the scale of things, it just adds to the many riddles that currently circulate Oleg.

Keep going son, I'm sure Oleg is making notes and you will get your free signed copy of SOW, just try and keep a little bit of self respect though.

It's so funny to read your quarrels.

BTW I think Tree is the "voice" of many IL2 players who don't write here but always think about this mythical SoW. At least me.

Tree is not a real person, it's the avatar of whining. Go ahead my lord!! :D

Haha, it's true. Maybe that's why he's called Tree. He's like a forest spirit, but for IL-2. The voice of the confused masses.
Anyway, Tree, I'm not trying to out-troll you, I'm just calling it as I see it, you are very predictable, someone posts something angry at you and you're like "NO U ARE!", and then all of the uptight people get all angry and you get to giggle to yourself as you feign offense. I guess that's not really your fault, I mean, you are a disembodied spirit of disappointment and all.
But yeah, Eries, there's really no need to get so riled up by him, he's just poking a bit of fun, and you're overreacting. Oleg's become a sort of mythical comic-book hero/villain in the IL-2 community now, I think he realises this, and I don't think he's likely to get too offended by anything we post that isn't intentionally malicious.

Calling it the way i see it , and as well as many others see it isnt "overreacting"
When theres dog poo on the lawn and i point it out to folks so they don't step in it , that isn't overreacting. It's just stating there's dog poo on the lawn. In retrospect that's actually a very accurate analogy.

I think he'd like to think he riles folks up , as his posts have zero intellectual merit. Theres really no other reason for him to post besides venting his own personal frustrations. But I guess if he can't afford therapy , posting here will just have to do.

Your right that the funny part is that he spends all this effort to bash 1C and Oleg personally , and then gets all uptight when folks simply point out the dog poo on the lawn.

Agreed , it is fun to run your cup along the monkey bars and get them all riled up sometimes. I dont think we expect anything intellectual out of the monkey in that case , and with this case I expect we'll see him only fling more poo.

Tree_UK 10-07-2009 04:31 PM

Its so refreshing to see that some guys have got a sense of humuor. Feigning offense is always a winner .:grin: Thank you Manu and Grunch for seeing it for what it is.

Well I see Eries is nicely on the hook.
Good job Tree! ;)

Flyby 10-07-2009 07:11 PM

it's not true

Oleg is not the reincarnation of the Marquis de Sade. He takes no pleasure in our anxiety over the lack of news about SoW (as once inferred). Well...maybe he enjoys it a little bit. But we can concede to him his slim pleasures given the pressure he's under to produce a flight sim that will blow our socks off, and pave the way for years of new whining about incorrect rivet counts, weak cannon, et al.
No. Wait a minute. Life's too short. Come on, Oleg, give us a twitch and post something new. We'll all swoon over it and beg for more. Hmmm... The Marquis might like that sort of thing after all.
