Am I being Cheap...
if I use the IL series planes online? I've heard a lot of complaints about how the gunner is too good, and how the plane has been stat padded (not saying this is true). But if I use this online in a dogfight or other game mode, would you say I'm playing cheap?
I don't really use it now, but I thought I might start, to get the Xbox 360 achievement. But I don't want to get a reputation as a cheap pilot who uses his rear gunner to get all his kills. :P |

I wouldn't have thought so, but the way I see it is you are only as cheap as YOU feel, who gives a shit what other people think??? To be honest I see pilots playing IL serise all the time, whether its because they genuinely like it, or to score a few easy kills who knows, who cares??????? |
Nope. I'd consider you an easy target :P.
|
Bottom line; Play the game however you have the most fun playing.
Cheers! Ax |
Despite what some people say, I really don't think there is any one uberplane out there. It really depends on the pilot. Take for instance the object of the most recent gripe fest, the I-153. In skilled hands it is a nasty opponent in a dogfight. In not so skilled hands or if you know how to counter it, it's meat. Just don't worry about it man, people are gonna gripe no matter what.

I enjoy it a lot, fly what you want. It's my first choice in CTA so I can capture and then cover with the rear gunner. It's supposed to be tough, which is perfect for that game type.

I love it when players come in my room with bombers, I had a good time last night with some players from outback and the UK. You can learn tactics this way.:)
The FW-190D-9 or Ta-152 will make quick work of the bombers, come in from the sides, bottom and top. |
Is the IL2 counted as a bomber in the game or a fighter?
To tell the truth, I do feel a bit embarrassed when I'm flying my IL2 and im getting raped from behind but receiving little damage. Especially when flying on Sim with King Jareth and Pedro the Goat, We usually have limited ammo and that makes it impossible for one person alone to down it before they run out of guns. I haven't unlocked the IL2-M and I'd feel super guilty flying backwards in a straight line just sitting in the gunners seat with the button pressed. Very little skill needed. I definitely wouldn't fly with friends and do it. |

Coming from a Soviet Ace (;)) I have to say no like the rest. It's not your fault that the developers made the Soviet planes a better opponent. And it's not your fault that you like the Soviet planes. So no, your not cheating by what they give you.
|
BLAH!!
;) Yeah your cheap and your cheating lol. Dont turn to the dark side...... stay with the good guys, fly for the RAF, not the dirty ruski's :P All joking aside though, its not cheap or dirty. This is war, thats what happened. Its upto the guy who wants you dead to shoot you down without letting your gunner get a shot off. It can be done. |

You also shouldn't feel bad for flying the very plane the game is centered around and named for. LOL

How is it cheap?
if your rear gunner is shooting at me, then common knowledge says im not going to just stay their and let you destroy me!!! i will evade and come at you from a different angle. So i dont think it is cheap. I think its your oppenent being a complete knob for staying their in the first place and crediting you with a comfortable kill. |

On topic ;), the only 'cheap' planes that I'd say are out there are the Arado if the other side doesn't have the Me-163, and the B-17 if the other side doesn't have one. They're not unstoppable, but you need a good and well-coordinated side to bring them down, and the people flying them to be not so good with 'em. The cheapest things out there atm (to be fixed in a patch soon) are crashing after being damaged to deny your opponent a kill (the honourable thing to do is stay in the air as long as possible :)), and crashing into people trying to land on CTA, but you deffo don't sound like the type to behave that way :). |

Oh the joys of party chat  no more having to listen to them annoying little shits!!! though on a side note on IL2 i seem to notice if im not in party chat that the players who do actually talk or communicate seem pretty down to earth and fairly decent. Crashing once shot is a cheap trick and pretty low, but sometimes cannot be helped. The amount of times im at tree top height trying to get some distance from ym foe and a cannon round will tear a wing apart..... its not easy to avoid the crash, yet they dont get the kill, instead i get the crash. It is a shame. The patch will solve this problem though thankfully. |

I don't know why some people think cheap = cheating. Cheap = Easy and not much skill required. |
Yeah, when I had my mic IL2 would be one of the games I would use it for (along with Burnout Paradise). But in a game like Call of Duty I would never use it if I weren't in a party with friends.
But On Topic: I think I'm going to have to be using the IL2 a bit, to unlock some planes, and to get the achievement. But I'll try not to just fly straight and let my gunner do all the work. That would be boring anyway. :P |
Anyone who kills me is cheep, theres always good pilots in the room but no they go for the easy kill on the guy flat spinning every 2 seconds.
Cheep. |
crashing into people in CTA is unavoidable for me for two reasons
a) The av8r has yet to get brakes and b) It worked for me unlocking the IL4...alls fair... if you don't like it then don't land in a predictable way...anyone else had wacky races round airfields? ________ Marijuana test |

a) The Thrustmaster doesn't have brakes either, and I've landed an Me-163 on realistic (still haven't managed to take off again though ). You can use your rudder to steer as well, so it shouldn't be that difficult to get around someone. b) Indeed, it's in the game, so no-one can stop you, but don't think people will respect you either ;). That's not to say it doesn't happen by accident when strafing and stuff, and I never assume someone's deliberately crashing until it happens a couple of times, but after it has, the game just devolves into two sides slamming their planes into an airfield. Just seems a bit silly to me. I got the IL-4 m'self without crashing, wasn't too hard ;). |
