Who is playing on full hdtv (1080p)
I have a 52" Sony, but it is only 720p or 1080i. I was wondering if upgrading to 1080p would help with aiming and target recognition? I seem to have a real problem judging a bandits angle of approach until its too late to make the needed adgustment. I think its because I'm not seeing the plane as clear as the intended.
What do you guys think? If anyone that has played BOP w/ 720p and upgraded to full HD, could you please tell me if the upgrade made a differance in your game play. |
I have a 1080p Panasonic and the picture is great but I don't think you would notice a difference playing on 1080i or 720p. Make sure you have your PS3 (if that's what you have) set to output the correct resolution. Also, are you using a good quality HDMI cable?
|
Does this game even render natively in 1080p or is it just sort of upscaled like most?
|
I play in 1080p but the screens only 32" (I sit about 2ft from it).
|
Im using a "Monster 1000hd Ultra High Speed" cable, so I dont thing the cable is the issue.

I've got a low def Tv not very large. Clearly the game is not design for that kind of TV. I almost can't read mission objectives and I am struggling to see red spot on the map. When you look at Call of Duty Modern Warfare where its just perfect both on Low def and High def... You think that may be BOP devs forget to do something |
we have a panasonic 1080p full hd 200mhz scan all the bells and whistles its 48" but i dont think it make any difference to spotting the difference in planes i dont see them that clearly till im up close and personal
to be honest if you can get 1080i then there is not that much point in upgrading your tv to me the picture only looks a little crisper and colours look a bit better but its not like wow amazing picture difference |
And you can add that when you play BOP on a large 1080 full HD you have more Aliasing,
So it is not worth it |

what is aliasing ?? |
That's this effect :

I'm playing on a 42" 1080p LCD screen and my target recognitions sucks...
I actually move a chair right in fron of the screen to try and find targets in MP (simulator) without much effect. I'm not sure if the Aliasing actually helps or it makes the planes blend even more with the rest of the environment (especially the ground). I usually turn off all then image processing on the TV ( it also adds to screen lag even if you have a <5ms LCD) |
I use 1080p, but only on a 37". Not sure how to compare, because I have never had the 360 on anything else..
|
As I posted in the same thread over in the Xbox forums, this game and every single other game on Xbox is NOT native 1080 anything. The 360 only supports 720p and then upscales from there. So it doesnt matter if you playing in 1080i or 1080p, as there should be no difference in fidelity.

I have a 24" benQ 1080p monitor running through a cheap hdmi lead...
I sit 1.5 ft away! these 1080 monitors are fairly affordable and make a huge difference...and are at least half the price of the equivalent size 1080 tv.. Does a decent hdmi lead make a Big Difference? ________ SUZUKI GSX1400 HISTORY |
Not really, unless the one you have gives picture distortion, or signal interference due to really bad quality. Otherwise there is no difference between brands, as its an unified technology. In other words, they are all identical.

The biggest problem I have playing on my LCD screen is motion blur. It makes spotting planes in simulation with the head movement control very difficult. So it doesn't matter how big your screen is, if it has a crappy response time you will have some difficulty. BoP on sim must be so much easier to play on a good plasma screen (Zero response time = no blur)

First I was playing on my 30" gateway xhd3000 which only likes to really run things at native resolutions so when I tried to play BOP on it the response time was wayyyy to lagggy.
So then I moved over to my 40" 1080p sammy and that was better, but sitting 12' feet away made playing simulator impossible... So then, I broke out my Sanyo PLV-Z4 projector (see photo) and am now playing it at 1080i on 120" screen (see photo), but I am still gettin whipped on simulator because I refuse to play in any mode except for cockpit...the virtual cockpit can suck my ass, I hate that thing and wish we could ban it away. In my opinion, there is no other way to play this marvelous game other than with the projector...you can get a nice 720p Sanyo PLV-Z4 for around $500 on ebay! |

PS; A low response time is best so sub 4ms is actually good ;-) Both my TV (22") and PC screen (19") have a 2ms response time so no blurring for me at all :D |

I do, i use a Samsung SyncMaster T240HD T.V, almost 1 year old, and it is the best TV i had so far, the only problem it has is that it is an HD, and my other t.v's are still oldskool, and i have no idea how to change the setting From Oldskool to HD if i Watch TV?
|
I'm having no issues with my Sanyo 26" 1080i/720p. I've heard on a screen smaller than 32" you won't notice much difference between 1080p/i. At any rate, it looks way better than my crappy old Magnavox sd so I'm well pleased.
|
It's one of the reasons i picked up a plasma over lcd.

I posted this as a reply on Xbox.com, but since I don't think most people take this into consideration when talking about resolutions, I put it up here too:
