Ridley Scott's Prometheus

Any sci fi fans here seen this yet? Went to see it today at Inverness Scotland in 3D, wont spoil it for those who have not seen it but as a fan of the series who saw the original Alien on its releases date I loved it ... I see some of the more Thespian on the net types are knocking it already and its by no means a perfect film, and its not a true prequel as has been openly said before by Ridley himself, its a prequel of sorts, for sure its one of the best looking sci fi or best looking films I've ever seen, the sets are amazing and they are apparently real sets, Ridley is not a fan of CGI where he can avoid it, this film deserves Oscar nominations (and I'm not a fan of the academy) for its sets if nothing else.

The 3D worked very well too, I'd love to say more but don't want to spoil it for anyone, all that I've mentioned in this post was stuff that was let out by Ridley himself prior to the films release.

Cant wait to see it again and its a definite for me once its out on Blu Ray.

Not yet where I live, I had to console myself with Snow White and the Huntsman :( :D :D

But I did not regret the film; finaly a Snow White and six dwarfs that kick some serious a... ROFL!

I watched it yesterday :D

It was a good film but I can't feel a little underwhelmed I had hoped it would be more like alien than aliens, but since the film is setting itself up nicely for a potential sequel time will tell.

Anyway good film, recommended.

I liked that :)

And yes the movie did get a first release in UK or parts of Europe first, in fact our Inverness cinema showed it at midnight 1st June on Thursday to stay within the release rules ... I wanted to go see it yesterday, but we agreed Today, Saturday 2nd June at the earliest showing would be good, so at 12 noon this long awaited movie was witnessed and it was enjoyed.

It was indeed good.

If you are a fan of the series, you have a treat ahead ... many Alien, Aliens fans were disappointed with subsequent follow ups, especially the AvP films, but this one is a winner ....again IMHO.

Official promo ...

I think it was, without spoiling anything the best was left until last, James Cameron who made Aliens would have had less suspense and more action earlier, that's his style but not Ridleys :) Our Ridley is much more slow paced but equally as good as Camerons vision of the Xenomorph.

You are right though (and still without spoiling anything) the plot does leave an avenue open for yet another Alien prequel, and it might be a gauntlet thrown down to James Cameron by Ridley to do better in his action style? or Ridley to explore the plot in more depth in his own way.

But for sure I think the Alien franchise is now back on track after the silly AvP side excursions especially.

After his atrocious attempt at movie making called AVATAR, I bloody well hope he does not come back... I still cannot see why ppl like that film. The story was thinner than tesco ultra cheap toilet paper and everyone and there dog went to see it THE MIND BOGGLES!

Maybe its something to do with me growing up but while my older brothers still watch only action movies I am looking for a meaning behind the film or at least a very good action film... AVATAR bored the hell out of me.

Cameron said that he wasn't interested in the story of Avatar: merely the technology. So it was actually just a testing ground; albeit a very rewarding one.

It always makes me laugh when I remember speaking to a girl at a bar, and she asked me 'why did the Prime Minister make Avatar?'. Sadly she wasn't joking.

I hate you all! :(

That makes about as much sense burying yourself headfirst in sand to see what its like, yes it was a success but why risk it by scribbling two lines on a script and using it as a storyline after spending a lot of money on a new filming tech.

I agree the plot behind Avatar was weak also a rip off of other films, Dances with Wolves springs to mind, but not all films can be deep and meaningful, Avatar was OK for a switch off and chill visual treat if nothing else.

The reason I mentioned Cameron was because of Aliens of course, but Alien was still my favourite.
