A post from a guy who currently doesn't fly CloD

After reading many post and seeing many screens and vids of CloD I must say that I would not hesitate to buy this sim and I'm sure I'd enjoy it... despite all the negative words I read from some posters. I think this is a wonderful sim that looks great, even in it's early state with bugs and issues. I can't play right now because I don't have the money to buy a machine decent enough to run it, but eventually I will. In the meanwhile I'm enjoying the vids and screenshots provided by all of you who are patient enough with the devs.

Greetings from holland

Thats the spirit! When you get the money to buy a new rig it will probably be a lot better too ;) The latest beta patch has really showed that they are on the right path (especially as they seem to have found the cause for the reduced fps and stuttering online now).

Actually you don't need a super PC for CoD. I was waiting for the official patch to confirm it, but really, at least in the engine, the game is really different from the first release after the last beta.

I run it wit Core Duo E8500 3,17 GH, 4GB RAM, ATI5770 HD 1GB, high setting, when at the first release i couldn't fly also with low or very low setting.

If you don't ask for moon with FPS, you can try it.

This is a test online i made in the last week. CoD was good enough with this setting:

P.S: Use Game Booster 3.0, clear the Cache (Shader) and defrag CoD folders. It does help a lot.

The way I see it...if youre into flight sims then it won't hurt you any to buy it, even if it is considered to be a pre-release beta, it's still got enough in it to be a distraction now and then, all I do is fire it up and have a quck dogfight now and then....still fun and it really does look good.

McHilt, I would seriously consider building your own comp.

You will save money that way and you will be future proof in pretty much every way.

Look around on retailer websites, see what you can use from your old comp for a start (especially the HDD and your current OS and maybe graphics card ) and get on the road to freedom from premanufactured-computer-ball-and-chain ;).

What you basically need is a case, motherboard, cpu, memory and optical drive and "reuse" your current HDD and graphics card. You can build your own "semi-supercomp" that you can then later upgrade little by little as needed.

That's actually the plan Nedlynch. I'm really looking forward to do just that, but I have some other things to look after first, like getting my life as a self employed back on track...
I'm confident man.

This sim is fabulous. The longer you wait the better the vets become and this is the future of WWII sims so don't wait too long or you'll never catch up! :)

The game is fantastic and the only problem I had was sometimes the FMB would corrupt my scenarios, but careful building eliminated that.

Oh yes, the AI needs alot of help but that's fixable

I see and believe me I know exactely what you are talking about. I did retreat from full selfemployment, working for someone else and am very happy with that, just doing some things for myself on the side.

It is still very tough over here economy wise, especially in Florida we have a high unemployment rate (10+%).

Truly the best of luck to you, there is always hope
