Non-Steam version and DLC

so, like Assault Squad, MoW: Vietnam is available as either a Steam version or a non-Steam one (for example from GamersGate or GetGames). and like Assault Squad, Vietnam has DLC available (currently only the SE upgrade) exclusively on Steam.

from what i've read, Assault Squad could be activated on Steam regardless of where it had been bought (i wouldn't know as i've purchased it on Steam anyway).

my question is how it will work with Vietnam. how do people who bought the standard edition outside of Steam upgrade to the Special Edition? can Vietnam also be activated on Steam?

Edit: word from GetGames is that their keys cannot be activated on Steam. so how exactly are owners of non-Steam standard editions supposed to upgrade or purchase any upcoming DLC that might be released?

according to this post (http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...77&postcount=7) all versions of the game should be activatable on Steam so that everyone can buy DLC off Steam. :)

is there anybody here who's bought the game outside of Steam but managed to activate it on Steam? according to GetGames it didn't work earlier tonight, but it might have been due to the general mess on Steam concerning the CD keys for the game.

A friend of mine got it off GetGames and it isn't activatable on Steam. Furthermore there's no where from him to download the latest patch so we can't do multiplayer.

it might have had something to do with the CD key mess on Steam? perhaps it's working now that people who've bought the game on Steam have received their keys?

Same thing for me, I bought Special Edition on GameStreamer.com.
Wait for a multi key & bonus content.

still no update on whether the game can be activated on Steam if bought elsewhere?

I hope they resolve this issue. I know sneaksie said he would update us by today, but he hasn't said much. I wonder if tomorrow will be a better day? I'm guessing we won't really know until Thursday which is about a week after release.

Edit: i have received a reply from 1C support on the issue of Steam-activation of non-Steam editions of the game. apparently they are working on a deal with the digital distributors which should allow most users to activate their copy on Steam. it'll take a few more days, and it might be selective as some digital distributors may not allow it.

i don't know when and how we will be notified, or if an official news entry will be posted, as was the case with Assault Squad. it might be up to the digital distributors as well.

If anyone gets news or successfully registers the game on Steam please post it here.

Hey 1C when will we be able to register our games on Steam?
