Gunnery in IL2

Yesterday I was looking at some guncams and saw how difficult was to hit an enemy fighter (pure shooting skill I mean)...

I've always though that in IL2 was really too simple hitting the plane even from distance (the "green ray of death" can catch you even from 600m)... opposing to the real life.

Also we have a fixed view through the gunsight (stable aim) who make things easier.

So I tried to do some gunnery practice: I was surprised from how easy is to kill a chuting pilot even with a single shot of 30mm.

Maybe the target boxes around the IL2 object are really too big compared to the reality?

My dream for SoW is:
- No More sound from external planes (that is No sound radar of engines or firing cannons)
- Precise target boxes (Since the SoW's plane models are really detailed)
- Chance to not use ammo tracers (hystorically they weren't helpfull at all)
- Wind Turbolence behind enemies
- No fixed aim through the gunsight (6dof?)

You know, in real life bounces and sneak attacks were the best way to score a kill.

What do you think?

Agree 100% Manu.I want SoW to be as realistic as it is possible to be.

As far as i know was the sound modeled because of the limited view.
So with 6dof, that will be implicated afaik, there is no more need for the "sound radar".
it was already stated that the DM will be very accurate.
And i also read that the propwash will be included.

Yes, I agree.

For sure cannons are too accurate at least. The MGFF on the 109E especially was very inaccurate vs fighters, its been well documented by German pilots that the MGFF wasnt much use vs fighters, possibly some Aces could use it well. ALso the Mk108 and Hispano - probably too accurate

.50 are too accurate, they need more 'spread' IMO

British/American .303 are very inaccurate, they have a shotgun effect but without any hitting power.

The sound radar is IMO the worst thing in il2 since the pilot's SA is really influenced by it.

About DM I wish that the bullet will damage (random % on the hitted part) only when it really HITS that part: now you need only to hit "something around" the wing to hit the wing itself.

Point harmonization against pattern harmonization.... I wonder if it will be editable in SoW. :)

And I want breakdown levels to be brought to more or less real state! If a cannon jammed on every third round fired - I want it jammed! Another nice thing will be not flying everytime in a perfectly new airplane!
