How to check cpu/gpu usage?
Like I asked in the title, can anybody direct me to the name of a software which would allow me to see how many percent are my CPU and GPU actually being used? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: If you guys pass by and read this, would you please post your CPU usage percentage so that I may compare :) on last beta patch, thanks in advance you guys have a nice week end |
I use MSI Afterburner for gpu usage - it's a custom version of RivaTuner and works on almost all cards (doesn't have to be MSI). It also allows adjustment of the clock rates, voltage and fan profile, depending on model. For cpu usage I use Task Manager :-P
[Edit: roughly 70%, 45%, 25%, 20%, gpu at 100% while playing] |
I use Core temp for CPU, and GPU observer(win7 gadget) or EVGA precision for Graphics.

Now when you say you use task manager I have to wonder: is it really acurate?!! And is there a specific way to use it?! Cause what I do with it is just pop it on in the performance page (all CPUs in one single graphs instead of all 4 in seperate quadrants) then play the game for a couple minutes then press the windows key to check it out. The reason I doubt its accuracy is that it will show me a 63% (or so) spike when I return to desktop for about half a second (if that) but the graph before and after that shows me that the CPU is being used at only 40% !!!!!!! (maybe 45 tops) That can't possibly be right right?! |

Srry Kakashi, I didnt explain properly, I run 2 screens and there is a core temp gadget addon that shows all cores % usage as well as temps and ram %

Kidding thanks for your help i'll be testing that right away have a nice one :) (PS: how much is your CPU being used, I would be interested in knowing as a reference to the values I am about to obtain :) ) |
This guy's gadgets are awesome - though one or two features don't work for me (could be that the GPU gadget requires rivatuner or something to display GPU core speed, for example) and can show temp graphs if you run coretemp too.
EVGA Precision will do the same job as MSI Afterburner, but I think the latter might have more features - I haven't used it for a while. Precision can show many graphs, I use it mainly for the fps graph, but it does overclocking the GPU too. http://www.myfavoritegadgets.info/ Here's the corner of my desktop, with GPUZ and CPUZ running as well: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...titled-3-1.jpg e: I should point out that I've been changing the clocks/HT settings a bit since I entered my sig on 1c forums. |
Just did a quick test in france free flight (109) and core "0" max's @ 48% (spikes, generally in low 40's high 30's), the rest of the cores are all being used but never seem to get over 30%. I currently have affinity mask disabled (per a beta performance thread) was running it at 14 but havent had a chance try affinity again and compare them yet.

I am a noob when it comes to all this, and how much of the hardware should actually being used while gaming... but shouldn't it be closer to 100%? instead of being close to zero?
I don't mean to insult the devs, I'm sure they'll sort it out eventually. But 40% is extremely low isn't it? (If it is that would be good, it would mean that when all problems are fixed my comp would run this game better :D) |
