Did any IL2 AI planes eventually become Flyable?
I just really can't remember, but as I was looking at the list of aircraft Flyable and AI on Cliffs of Dover, I wondered if the AI aircraft would be the next 'Patch' so that these then become Flyable.
I'm thinking that these models are already created so I presume cockpits are next and thse can be worked on after release? Just wondering? Cheers, MP |
Ju-88, Hs129, B-25, CW-21, Pe-2, G4M1, J2M3 and Ki-43II just off the top of my head.

As compared to the original IL2 release? Heck yeah, there were a lot, among them:
-Pe-2 -Pe-3 -He 111 -Ju 87 -Ju 88 -Hs 129 -Fw 190 (yes, it was originally AI-only) -I-16 -I-153 -He 162 -Me 262 -Bf 109 E (all of the three original variants) -Bf 109 K-4 |
I read in a post today a quote from Oleg (cant seem to find it now, maybe was at simhq) that only the IL2 was meant to be flyable in the original.
I do hope we get the Do17 eventually, as it was used in large numbers in BOB. http://www.flickr.com/photos/austin7nut/5349597474/ |

Not sure if we'll ever see this in Cliffs of Dover and moving forward. |

Other AI only planes not mentioned yet were La-7, IAR.80/81 and MC.202. Believe me, alll these were in the first game as AI planes! |

It was originally only going to be the Il-2 variants. Then they added a single variants of the LaGG and Mig-3 respectively. Then the BF-109F-2, P-39N and the Yak-1. Then they added the La-5FN...
No Ju-87 until just before FB, no flyable jets or bi-planes. It took a long time before we saw Emil and Gustav 109s, FW-190A4 Jabos or any twin engined mounts (Oleg originally planned to only offer the top gunner position on bombs as player controllable...) There were only half-a-dozen aircraft at release - everything else... |
