Luftwaffe markings 1940 - 1945

WARNING: Page contains the image of the swastika. But despite the warning I'm sure someone will whine about something to do with this post ;)

Anyway, I assume its accurate, interesting to see on BoB release how they line up.

I found it interesting to see what the various symbols mean. Never knew.

AND...

Bf109 cockpit impression from a RAF pilot, looks around the 80's - 90's era and I believe the 109 might be an E? Edit: Not an E. G or F id say.

The sims never quite give that closed in feeling you get from the "lid down" part of the vid.

I have no issue with the swastika being shown on historical aircraft in a WW2 sim. It was the very reason that we and our allies went to war to fight against what the Swastika represented in poltical terms. WW2 was a war against 'Nazi' ideology rather than the German people and should be displayed to remind us of that fact............

I put it in as some may have significant sensitivities regarding it.

Or, the forum idiots may use it as ammo for their stupidity.

I agree on the historical accuracy and Nazi WW2 focus. Bravo.

Thanks for sharing.
This 109 is probably a G-2

Hi

That videos been shown a lot and if it was done the other way around, Luftwaffe perspective,
I'm sure they would have the same poor retrospective view of the Spitfire.

Also

Its no surprise the cockpits smaller

Watch the late Mark Hanna in the Buchon v Spit and compare the sizes.

Me109 was like a F1 racing car cockpit, you were fitted in to make your job easier.

Claustrophobic.....yes but a feeling of "part of the machine" yes also I would imagine.

saw a thread such this a few years ago.

one of the replies to this video presented us with details and sketches of both cockpits, and proved the spitfire was infect more tight than the 109. Then again, some cars look far more tight and small, from waht they really are.

"WW2 was a war against 'Nazi' ideology rather than the German people and should be displayed to remind us of that fact............ "

agreed. But according to this "teory" flying as a german would mean you were flying as a Nazi idology pilot. i dont like this.

I have no problem with swastika, sometimes i use it, sometimes i dont. Most of the times i refuse to use it, is when my name comes up next to it.

Correct: You were fitted to the cockpit - not the cockpit to fit you.

HAAAAAA that was AWESOME.

That bit of the Goodwood vid, around 28 seconds in?

To me, thats what fighters are all about.

Ive spent years digging up videos yet i've never seen that one, being a Goodwood vid just makes me want to go.

Not that I'll get to fang something up the Earls driveway anytime soon.

Youve made my night.

Hell, my month. :)

Thankyou, sincerely.

Hmm, cannot imagine any German Pilot asking for the 'swastika' to be removed from his ac...........not a cat in hells chance! I wouldn't consider you a Nazi just because you fly an accurately represented BF109 during WW2 in a flight sim - anyone who does has serious problems. It wouldn't bother me at all......A BF109 had a swastika on it......simpe fact of truth and nothing to do with my political views.
