Beautiful airplane. They also saw early service in New Guinea before being replaced by B-25s.

I read some reports from pilots who flew the B26 over NG, once they figured her out they loved it. This was the B model I believe, the hot one, and the Zero couldn't catch it. He said they went in unescorted very often, and came out smelling of roses more often then not. Total technical superiority, in 1942!!! The Japanese really had no business going to war with us IMHO, it was a no win war!

The real problem with the B-26 was the landing gear was garbage, so you ended up with about a 2mph speed range between the stall speed, and the max landing speed. That's a large part of the reason the last flyable one crashed in 95.
