This has been answered so many times now... Please do a search! The next patch will address a number of issues.

PS take your trolling elsewhere.

You really can't please everybody, but since B6 has started to post here it seems a little less hostile (not discrediting all the work the mods have been up to recently, don't get me wrong) around here and we have been a lot more informed. People don't seem to be very patient with results, but since this is surely a time consuming process there may not be anything to tell us that we really need to know when people start to be vocal about being updated, so we get an update without much meat. Factor in the forum's tendency to wildly speculate about any morsel thrown to us and I certainly understand the team's hesitation to give us all of the details at an early state, or even any state before it's ready for release.

Having said all that, I am a little disheartened by the word choice (some, in particular) indicating less than stellar progress, but then it is supposed to be a complete overhaul, so I may be expecting too much too soon. All my skepticism is shooed away immediately with BoM screens coming though. I must have looked at the IL-2 a dozen times, and the prospect of more to oogle is definitely an exciting one. I just hope that all the demands of certain planes (Namely the 190, as much as I love it) will frustrate the devs and influence them to make the expansion less historical in the interest of those who want their favourite planes. I want an FW-190 or a P-40 as much (or more) than the next guy, but I think we may need to rein it in a bit, because if they weren't used in any significant way in the actual BoM, then I don't want to see them in it and Luthier has proven to cave in to complaints over realism on rare occasion.

Pleasing everyone is..well...like you said...
As developpement of both the patch and sequel are concerned, again, if they do not want any negative comments, better not telling to much, neither showing to much. Like they are actually doing now.
But regarding communications, B6 was officially introduced to us few weeks ago as the PR guy who would come here and be Luthier's voice to keep us updated. He is the guy we talk to, ask questions to and...yes...complain to.
But when we are told that a quick 3 sentences short incursion in this forum from the PR guy is a "polite and generous heads up", as a kind of special favor
to us, therefore shouldn't be critisized, well I dont get it. Isn't it his job ?
Well, if not, like I said, silence is better if 1C wants to avoid at any price negative comments. Lets keep those for the real updates and WIP...Like we used to do....:rolleyes:

Come on guys please be reasonable, a lot of people everywhere have not even gone back to work yet, and those that have, have hardly been back for a week. It was the holiday season after all!

Now that everyone is pretty much back and the work has started again on the patch after the break, i think you will all be pleasantly surprised if you can just be a little more reasonable and patient. And yes B6 was trying to do the right thing by communicating a little information ahead of time, and all some of you could do was shoot the messenger. Way to go. If you want more information you have to earn the respect of the PR team and developers to show you can take on bits and pieces of information without blowing everything out of proportion and crying the sky is falling.

Thanks for the update. Hope you guys understand we appreciate your hard work and continued support. Even if there are people complaining it is because they love their flight sims and are hoping for something they can fly for the next 10 years.

Looking forward to future updates when you have the time.

Out.

It will be fixed with the new graphic engine.

Aer9o 01-24-2012 08:54 AM

is it this ;

"Performance. We are in final stages of testing a thorough overhaul of the game’s graphic engine. It won’t look any different but it will be much more streamlined. It’s too early to say what the FPS increase will be in the final version, but it shouldn’t be less than 50%. "

or is it that :

"there is some progress in optimizing graphics"

:confused::rolleyes:

Both. If you search for BlackSix's and luthier's posts you will see that they faced huge difficulties with this new engine in December and now are working hard to overcome them. This it is good that any progress is made as there could be none at all. "it shouldn’t be" doesn't mean "it will not be" ;)

bongodriver 01-24-2012 09:39 AM

I think the point Aero was making is that at first the statement was they were in 'final' stages of testing, and subsequently the next update says 'some' progress.

but my reading of it is that they have finalised the overhaul and are making some progress in the optimization of the new engine.

As far as I know it is not. He was hired as a mission designer (he used to do this for MG in the past) and community projects manager (1)to collect info from community for BoM on airgroup locations, etc. and 2)creation of community manual). This info was supposed to be collected on the Russian forums only because of the language barrier and because more information on VVS is available in Russia. Western community will benefit of all the results of these projects when they are ready and translated. Source http://www.sukhoi.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=73239

Because these projects were to be carried out on the Russian forums and because BlackSix was an old forum member for 10+ years already he agreed to provide also some information on game progress on those forums (otherwise community would not be that eager to provide information to him). This is not his job but rather extra responsibility.

The above may be not 100% correct, just my conclusions based on facts.

The fact that he writes here anything in English is only his goodwill because UBI is responsible for PR outside Russia as the publisher. UBI keeps and spends the communication budget for all the countries outside Russia. You paid your money to UBI and have all the rights to request customer service including communication from them or take them to court if the game does not 'work' or communication is not good enough. This is how business works. All communication here and the existence of this forum itself is only 1C and the devs goodwill.
