I'm pretty sure my purchase goes towards getting it into the top 10, yet I still haven't got my copy, nor has anyone that I know of that ordered from the same site as I did, however I do think it is more of a case of people not playing MP so much while there is SP to play through.

I've been a big fan of the cod series (on pc), but I have always tended to play through the single player before I did much mp at all, which was usually the first week after buying. Add to that, there are multiplayer issues which are pissing people off, which Anton has already replied about in this thread to say they are looking into this as well as possible joystick fixes mentioned in another thread.

Up to you at the end of the day, but the game probably will have less of a chance to get a following online if people give up on it so early on :(

i wouldnt worry about the arcade crowd liking it too much, those arent the gamers that will stay with the game anyway, those are the ADD little kids that cant pay attention to something for more than 5 minuites and need all sorts of power ups and noises saying how good they are.

while arcade may be good for first learning i guess and getting familiar with the game unless its a problem with realistic or sim who cares

HAHA why are you genius's even responding to people like yossarian, you dont have to worry about them cuz theyl either be in arcade or hitting the ground in a fireball after being shot down

I'm actually playing realistic with Brown Trout now, it is SOOOOOOOOO much better than arcade.

I think the planes 'health' (such a newb i know) in online is perfect, makes playing online a really fun, enjoyable, intense and visceral experience. I love the fact that you can have battles with one person that can last the entire game. I can't see how people can complain about how hard it is to kill someone online, because it's all about positioning. If you're miles away shooting someone, then you're not gonna get very far.

I've had the game for what, two days, and i'm finding online on arcade difficulty perfect, and pretty balanced too. I do agree that there should be some way of tracking people who just crash in the ground to avoid letting someone get a kill. However, i think the damage model is fine, especially for mainstream gamers, as i'm one of them! It's just a matter of playing for a little bit, learning how to turn quicker than your opponent, and figuring out how the reticule system works. I cant tell you how opposed i'd be to changing the damage model in online mode.

The thing that makes this game different and more fun to the rest of them is that i dont rack up 20 kills to 10 deaths, its that i barely get more than 3-5 kills every game. This makes it more intense and personal, and means you dont constantly get pissed off with dying. People are only complaining because they're not very good at the moment, not to mention people choosing rediculously lousy brick planes in online mode.

In summary, the damage model for online is perfect. It just requires a little bit of skill to figure out how to do the most damage. This is coming from one of the most mainstream 360 gamers out there.

Brilliant Post!! Although I do understand peoples plight in arcade, taking too long to get a kill, think of it this way. If you were a casual gamer, and not very good (yet) at IL-2 would you enjoy being shot down so easily in an arcade match? If the damage model was adjusted in arcade, then the new people would get owned all the time QUICKLY and leave even quicker...... For those of you complaining about arcade, fly realistic or Sim mode... You seem to be good enough at flying to stay behind the person, and in realistic, one or two good cannon burst is all you need to cripple or kill an enemy plane.
Think of arcade as IL-2 with training wheels, all great to learn how to fly, but you sure as hell dont want to let your friends see you with them on.......

Friends, dont let friends fly arcade........

Does anyone else have a problem with lag. I haven't got the greatest of connections (10mb but not much upload) so I don't usually don't host games. When I'm in someone elses lobby I have the slightest of lag and it makes it imposible to hit anything unless im flying right straight behind someone or going head to head. Ive tested it on arcade I aim at the deflection marker and fire and nothing happens, the plane goes merrily on because the guy isn't actually there anymore. On capture the airstrip I fire loads of rockets at people slowly landing to no effect, then when they stop their plane suddenly jumps into a different position??? Its quite anoying. Also I never know when I'm being hit, I get no sound. I think this game is really sensitive to any amount of lag even the smallest amount.

Not getting any lag, but if you're connecting to rooms hosted in the US, for instance, you'll get lag due to the distances involved.

Cross ocean lag is a fickle beast. Example, I was playing earlier with the robotic pope, and kept getting dumped. Total game meltdown, party would end, trying to leave session and then eventual consol restart. (sorry bout that pope). I was the host.

I was also playing with Yossarian and his mate today, no problems what so ever. (unless some-one would leave the game, then very short lag then back to normal.)
I think it has more to do if the connections like each other, some people I just cant connect with... House MD for one.

Come to think of it, one player in our party couldn't join a room I was hosting for some reason. Got in the first time and promptly dropped at launch, then couldn't get in at all. Switched hosts and it was fine. I know my NAT is open, and pretty sure he said his was as well. No comm issues.
Sometimes the route for connecting just screws things up IMO.

Aye no lag at all on a transatlanic game, and loads of fun.

I've just played a few games of Strike with 10 mixed UK & US players with no lag. If anybody have not tried this mode yet I can recommend it. Half the team go bombers, the other half fighters, it was really good fun. The leaderboards say only 18 people have ever played it, and it is more fun than dogfighting even because you get dogfights and bombing and bomber intercepts all in one game, there was a good mix of aircraft aswell, stuka's, Il2M's, all the fighters and level bombers, seriously try it.

Perhaps if you could read you would know that I was moaning about NOT being able to find many sim and realistic games Einstein, and I'm in the top 20 for realistic games, maybe you'd like to put your money where you mouth is and challenge me, any aircraft you want one on one, you up for it or are you chicken ?
