So if only a third of those people switch there time to MW2 (me included) then it will be all but impossible to get an MP game on BOP.

Heehee... Too bad in spite of all those players you're limited to tiny little 8 versus 8 matches on all systems since there's no more dedicated servers anymore. Couple of funny video about this explosive issue in case no one has seen them (click on them to make them bigger so you can read the subtitles):

I agree with others here, MW2 is way overrated. I can't think of one important innovation that MW2 is bringing to the gaming world.

It doesn't have the realism, graphics or non-linear gameplay of Far Cry 2, or the destructible environments or controllable vehicles of Battlefield Bad Company or Red Faction Guerrilla, or huge player counts and the interesting future setting of Frontlines Fuel of War... the list goes on of shooter games which are superior in various ways. If I was you guys I would save my money for one of these games, or Battlefield BC 2 next year.

Make no mistake, I used to love the COD series when it focused on WW2 but lately IW has become so arrogant they have alienated the very customers like myself that built them into the powerhouse they are today.

And yeah, that airport scene is pretty disgusting, it was obviously thrown in just to drum up controversy and drive sales. IW and Activision should not exploit real life tragedies in their relentless quest to make money.

in a word ... yes

MW2 will further erode the active fan base for IL-2 Sturmovik: BOP.

Why?

Because BOP is broken, and MW2 will not be and will be fun to play right out of the box.

Yeah cos MW worked perfectly after the open beta..............

dreadnaught_ 11-03-2009 02:44 PM

not sure what you mean ...

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but I would pretty much guarantee MW2 will be more serviceable than IL2 upon release ...

At least they fixed it ;)

Lets face it, the lack of news regarding a patch here has split the group and pushed lots away, me included.

Way it goes.

Mw2 maybe will be the final blow to BoP, but I'm one of those who will NOT be buying it. For many reasons. And thinking of an Fps, I still love Kz2, so I don't need another.

I haven't had any time to play BoP in the past two weeks, but yesterday I managed to have a sim game at 2pm gmt.
And, even without the patch, it was great fun.

Occam's Razor

This guy was right on:

Inside information or not and horrible syntax notwithstanding, he is most likely correct. The fact that the post was locked supports this thesis.

Ever hear of the philosophical apparatus Ockham's Razor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor)?

Applied to the question of this "update," it also suggests that it is not going to happen.

Occam's razor states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible, eliminating those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory.
So.. this law is by definition not applicable to this subject, since there's nothing else than assumptions. Some assume they have the decency to publish the update, some assume they don't. Some assume the publishers don't find it worth it, some don't. Should I go on?
Your assumption that the quoted thread was locked is plain nonsense. First of all, this is the 1C forum, not 505, so it's not like they want to 'cover up' or anything. Secondly, a more probable reason is that the mods don't want, let's call it incriminating topics on this forum stating negative 'facts' that are not backed up.
Another thing that bugs me is that people say 505 won't make any profit off of the update. Of course not, we're not paying for it. The main reason 505 should publish the update is to try to keep their name up. They don't want to be known for publishing unfinished games without fixing it.
As for the money it costs to publish an update, I think 505 only has to pay fees to Sony and MS to test and distribute the update. It's all via internet, so there's no 'production costs' (for boxes and whatnot) or shipping costs.
Frankly, I don't understand why the update isn't here (big surprise). The problem seems to be in a networking error for PS3, afaik, and maybe it costs too much money to fix it, but it that case they would at least have the common decency to let us know, right?

MW2 isn't going to be broken??? haha. You can hack it with a simple hex editor... Do you remember those people that fly around the map? MW2 isn't even out yet and they have found an Invincibility glitch, and alot of elevator (get out of the map glitches) lol
