whats wrong with ingame music?

Ok Soviet Ace: First I've got some bad news. That He-111 you were in belonged to the Commemorative (formerly Confederate) Air Force. Sadly, it crashed several years back, killing both pilots. But it's good that you got to check her out while we still had her.

It's an amusing fact that every plane in the Battle of Britain movie was powered by a Merlin (except the Ju-52 near the beginning). This is actually quite ironic, since the first Me-109 prototype was powered by a Rolls-Royce Kestrel!

I believe some of the He-111 scenes were filmed over Spain, so they'd have the full support of the Spanish air force's 111s. I may be mistaken, but I believe all of the He-111s lined up at the beginning were actual air-worthy Spanish 111s. (but don't quote me on that.)

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:

I'm gonna stick with the game music for most of the campaigns. (I may have to play Horst Wessel, Alte Kameraden or die Fallschirmjager Lied during MP with German planes, though!) During the Soviet campaigns I have something special planned! I've got a CD of old Soviet music from the Red Army Choir and other Russian groups. It's great stuff! (and no, I'm not a communist) I'm surprised you aren't doing something similar, Soviet Ace ;)

I agree with you completely about liking many genres of music. I like classical, some opera, sailor shanties, Chinese zither music, old German marching songs (NOT a Nazi either!), old Soviet music, old American patriotic songs (except the religious ones), medieval music, 80's metal, heavy metal, rock in general, electronica (techno, trance, hardstyle, etc) As you can see, no one could ever accuse me of being narrow-minded when it comes to music. :)

That's to bad to hear about the He-111. But anyway, on a lighter note. Infact, when I hopped into my Yak-3 (Not a true looking Yak-3 in the cockpit) I actually did turn on the "Internationale" ie the adopted Soviet National Anthem. Felt kinda like those old Soviet Propaganda films where you see the pilots all standing near their planes, saluting the officers before hopping in. And then standing on their wing as some of their comrades go flying above them towards the fight.... Yeah that was me :cool:

Easy, Holst The Planets. I saw a documentary on the Spitfire when I was like 8 and during the Battle of Britain sequence they played Mars Bringer of War or whatever and it stuck with me. Its immedietely follwed by a mornful Venus Bringer of Peace which is perfect post battle, really suits the 'lone Spitfire gliding gracefully over the green land it protects etc etc' as does Elgars Serenade in E minor Op. 20: I. Allegro piacevole. Strangely its bizarre how well the music seems to work in tandom with the events unfolding in the actual game. Another great one for it is Elgars Pomp and Circumstance Marches. Only really for the British scraps though, when defending ol' blighty from the hun and all that!

Music, in this game, is really incredible for my taste. I think I will finish everything with the OST that it carries... maybe when I have all my work done I´ll try Wagner or something that invites to liberate Europe.
