Had a chance to look at this problem this evening. Below are the settings on my rig that now allow Fraps to display and record, any others and it won't function with the official patch.
It's now working fine, in full screen with no intermittent FPS counter bleed on the recordings. Not ideal I know, but if you cannot roll back (I'm in that boat!) may be these settings will work for you untill this is fixed. If you try the following, start a mission but wait a few seconds for the fps counter to show - there is a delay. 1. Changescreenres must be 0 (selecting another Clod screen res in video menu or changing from Full screen to Off settings seems to reset this this back to 1 - worth checking it has not been reset). 2. The monitor aero checkbox in Fraps must be enabled. 3 Aero must be enabled 4. On my rig, my screen res matches the game resolution set in my 1cSoftclub conf. file 5. FPS counter intermittently bleeds through to the recording if I have the info window open in the same loaction as the FPS counter. I have moved the fps counter to the bottom right of the screen. |

I noticed though that it resulted in 'Full-Screen' being switched to 'OFF' in the game's video menu, with a resolution of 1024x768 also being selected. Even though the game still actually ran in a full-screen mode at a higher than 1024x768 resolution. If, however, I then selected 'Okay' to those video settings, I'd then have to restart the game to apply them. And if I did so, the game would restart in Windowed mode @1024x768. That suggests to me, when one selects ChangeScreenRes=0 but doesn't re-apply it in-game, the game is actually being played in a 'Psuedo' full-screen mode, and FRAPS, being set to 'Monitor Aero desktop' can still track it as if it's the desktop itself. But that's all just guesswork on my part. What I also found though, was that I could set the 'Full-Screen' mode to 'Psuedo' in-game, and your fix would still apply. However, upon exiting the game, the ChangeScreeRes setting in my config file had been changed to 'ChangeScreenRes=2'. So, I'd actually recommend using 'ChangeScreenRes=2' (Psuedo Full Screen), as it allows you to change and apply other settings in the game's 'Video' settings menu if you want to, without the game then reverting to Windowed mode. |
At last i got FRAPS working in latest patch using pseudo mode ty and also using the advice above

Glad it worked for you guys too, and thanks for your observations and tech advice LES, I will change my changescreenres flag to 2.

Never not been able to record with Flaps before-as a last resort im downloading the latest Nv drivers cos none of the above works for me , seems the div team have returned to the pre release method of ignorance is bliss

It killed Fraps for me too......was fine in the previous beta. Thanks SEE for the suggestions but I went through all your points (check) and it still does not work. It also had the effect of making me lose Vsync. Counter is present in menu/splash screens but disappears when flying.
Anyone know if the in game 'console' FPS counter still works? I think it was something like FPS_Start_SHOW or something, but you have to get it exactly right (case sensitive as I remember and I don't think my version is correct, even the order of words.). EDIT: Ok figured out the console FPS counter. The command is fps START SHOW (case sensitive) Better than nothing I suppose. |
I have Fraps working in the last patch.
I E-mailed Fraps and this is what thy said. Thanks for your inquiry. Fraps supports recording from the desktop when the 3D Aero desktop is used in Windows 7 or Vista. Please note that for Windows Vista the aero desktop environment is only available in the Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. The "Monitor Aero Desktop (DWM)" option will only appear under the General tab in Fraps if this desktop environment is being used. If you don't see this option then it sounds like your desktop theme has changed or the machine is not setup to use the Aero desktop environment. In this case, I'd recommend that you download and run the Microsoft FixIt automated support tool for enabling Aero in Windows 7 and Vista. You can find out more information and download a copy of this program directly from Microsoft at the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/aero...ts_not_working After enabling the Aero desktop please also be sure to restart Fraps afterwards to ensure that any changes are picked up. Hope this helps! Regards, Rod Maher I download the MicrosoftFixit.aero.Run tool from http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ and now can record in CLoD after I check the monitor aero checkbox in Fraps. It records from the desktop. But it sure hurts the game performance IMO. With this patch you can not record with fraps unless you have the payed version I do but the monitor aero was not working in fraps until I ran this tool. Hope this helps. flyer01~S~ |

The requirement to enable Aero and check the Monitor Aero box in Fraps had been identified earlier in the thread as was the problem that Fraps will only work in Pseudo with this latest patch. What hasn't been established is if anyone is able to use Fraps in Full screen with the latest patch. |
