I won't know for sure why you crash but going through your data your system looks a bit under par.

2GB RAM?
512 Graphics card (times 2?) Sli isnt working correctly right now.
What CPU you got?

I doubt you will get a fast response from steam at the moment.

Reason 1 - Its not a valve game and the crashing is 1c's issue to fix.

Reason 2 - they are releasing Portal 2 over the next few days so it'll be their main focus.

heres what i would try, i have gone through this before with steam with Homefront. I reformatted windows installed and updated directx, vid drivers fresh install, check your MOB for bios update as well. then installed Homefront first, tried it and it works fine now, i then installed the rest of my games and np since.
I think your going to need a new vid card man, you can get a good used 260 460 for around 100 to 125 bucks.

Im not sure if you live in the states but i have old pc parts laying around
i would part with pretty cheap. just PM me
cpu Core 2 E8500
1 evga gts 250 1 xfx gtx 250 and 1 evga 260 core 216
couple Asus MOB and DDR2 ram
even some sound cards

Manually Removing Steam

Warning:

Dealing with your registry requires extreme care. Do not delete anything in your Windows registry that you are unsure about. For this reason, we suggest you only use this option as a last resort.
Exit Steam.

Navigate to your Steam directory. (Typically C:\Program Files\Steam or C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam

If you wish to save your game files for a future installation of Steam, copy your steamapps folder outside of your Steam directory.

Delete all of the contents of your Steam directory.

Go to Start > Run and type in regedit.

For 32-bit operating systems:
In the left-hand column of your registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\.

Right-click on Valve and select Delete.

For 64-bit operating systems:
In the left-hand column of your registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Valve\.

Right-click on Valve and select Delete.

In the left-hand column of your registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam.
Right-click on Valve select Delete.
Close your Registry Editor.

Game activation

does anyone have any suggestions?

I have tried for 4 days to activate my copy of COD. All I get is a "server not available" message. My time is valuable too, and I feel that as a customer I should not have to await the convenience of a third party to use something I have paid good money for. I think that IC Maddox Company should be more concerned with customer service issues. The game is going back to the store tomorrow. Such a pity - I am a IL2-1946 fan (love that game) and was looking forward to this instalment. It seems however, that the end user has been forgotten in the corporate deals. If you bought a new car, would you think it reasonable to be expected to ask for the car keys from someone else every time you wanted to use it? How would you react to a "too busy now, come back later response" when you wanted to use your car?
