Works for me.

Running XP, I have all of the Catalyst control features turned off or set to application controlled.

Blocky text gone with 10.5 but got flashing prop discs, flashing sky at times.
Also CCC always reverts to default settings after system reboot.

I use the Profile system to ease this problem. I have a profile called "IL2" (surprise surprise) which I enable before I fly. It is set to start up Hyperlobby at the same time - though it could equally be my TIR or my joystick software that starts up, whichever you want.
All the necessary tweaks are enabled in this profile: e.g~ Catalyst AI Disabled and Triple Buffering On, and it doesn't get changed when the computer is rebooted. It's only needed for this single game so it's useful not to have these settings as default, whether the settings stick or not.

turn off dynamic lighting in your conf.ini to fix the flickering.

Thank you for your suggestions but i have much worse problem now.
I removed the 10.5 driver and installed the previous version (9.12)
Now the game does not start at all.
It produces an error file each time it has a failed start:

can anyone help?

looks to me like some files from the 10.5 driver weren't deleted when you installed 9.12 ("Library=C:\Windows\system32\aticfx32.dll" tells me this), did u run the uninstaller for the 10.5 drivers before you installed 9.12? if not, you'll have to re-install the 10.5 drivers, uninstall them properly, then go back to 9.12...and if that doesn't work google an ATI driver cleaner type program (i don't remember what its called) and completely remove all files related to ur ATI drivers, and re-install 9.12

AKA_Tenn i followed your suggestions and reinstalled 10.5, everything works again, thank you very much.

I turned off Dynamicallights (set it to 0) but it did not help.

What is actually flashing is trasparent textures like canopies when against transparent objects like clouds or prop disks.

S!

Also try disabling both VertexArray options, set them to 0 under conf.ini.
