Wasn't the version in the film the slightly later one powered by the Merlin engine?

to be fair the film used a mix of different Mk spits. Not all one Mk, it was just any spits they could get their hands on really.

Engine sounds and ambient sounds etc are enough for me.

(this is true for nearly every game i play ... but a game like GTA4 it is different because you've got this carradio ... that's funny:))

^^^^ What he said!

No music is authentic too... the RAF issued an order in 1939 banning the use of iPods by aircrew whilst flying, after a series of mishaps!

I was talking about the Hispano Buchons (Merlin engined Spanish built Bf109G2) used to represent the Bf109E, but yeah, there were a bunch of different Mks of Spitfire in that film.

the 109's in the film did have the merlin engine, alot of work went into making them "look more like 109's" for example... adding machine guns and cannons, sorting the wing tips out.

Alot of work went inot the film in trying to get so many aircraft together for filming.

I have te book on the making of the film, and one part goes on about when they arrived at duxford. Some old war vet was standing their looking at all theses swastikas on the field and hen said....

"well, its a strange sight isnt it? considering the fact that we won the war, i never thought id see a squadron of those buggers sitting on our airfields"

it made me chuckle
