Well, IMO, I think the IL2 brand was the perfect flight sim brand to bring to consoles considering how popular, realistic, and unlimited the original was.

Great, i've been waiting along time for more realistic games, like this one and Operation Flashpoint to come to next-gen consoles. Finally the wait is over !!

Although I was pleased by your avatar, I am not so sure Codemasters will simulate the next series of OFP.

It is very likely I will buy it anyway, but I'm waiting to hear news on ArmA2 to Xbox(not to start a contriversy, but I have seen and heard BIS devs say it is coming to the Xbox.).

I haven't heard any news of arma2 comming to the 360, but if it does, i'll just have to get a 360 then, Even if Ofp2 is not as SUPER realistic and complex as Arma2, it will be better any other console shooters out, no ? It should be a more polished and streamlined game with less bugs than arma too, on the positive side.
Say, it plays just like cod ( which it isn't going to ), just the fact that it's on this HUGE island should make for a MUCH better experience. That along with a realistic damage system and no health regeneration, and i'm sold. I just hope this new engine is good. I hated the shooting mechanics in BFBC and Far Cry 2 but thought they were decent in cod, execpt for the recoil.

Right. I think it will easily kill COD and BFBC. I think the weapons are simulated at least. And yes, I have a feeling ArmA2 will be filled with glitches while OFPDR will be more smooth. I haven't read anything about it recently, but it looks like it's one hell of a game.

I've seen some BIS devs say that they are developing for Xbox(no news for PS3 at all) and that they had planned a simultanious release with the PC version, but it didn't happen. I heard there are no hardcore difficulty differences between the PC and Xbox which is good to hear. The thing is, is that they can't announce a game without certain requirements first and that's why they are 'technically' not developing for the 360.

Okay, let's keep this thread on topic though.:-P Feel free to PM me.

Cool, thanks.

I think this game will do quite well IF they advertise on telivision. I kind of doubt the publisher has enough faith in the title to put down that kind of money though.

Sorry for derailing again - but Armed Assault II is not announced for consoles anymore on the official homepage. OFP will definitely be the most realistic military shooter for some time to come.

And back on topic:

I didn't vote until I saw the live broadcast with audio yesterday evening (was at work when it was originally broadcasted and had to turn off audio). Mark disclosed a lot of details about the game and everything I heard was good news.

However, let's be realistic. It's a flight game and the market is limited. Still I think that BoP will do a lot better than HoE and will (hopefully) become the most sold flying game on consoles.

With some good reviews it might pick up more than expected sales.

For me it's a winner already. Ever since i was a kid (many, many years ago) loved planes and loved games. Apart from Aces of the Pacific flight sims never really interested me. Until i downloaded the demo for BoP. On realistic mode it strikes (for me at last) the perfect balance between fun and the feeling of actually controlling a plane. I don't want to fall out of the sky every 2 seconds (simulation mode =)) And i don't want something that looks like a plane but acts like something that isn't affected by gravity (arcade mode).
