Try a key that you are not already using in-game, I use ctrl-X...

You must hit the key for both the start and end of your recording. During recording you should see some small symbols in the top lefthand corner of your screen.

I think his generation would have felt that there is way too much "being difficult" in this generation... Are such tiny issues (compared to all the astounding greatness in the sim) really worth getting your knickers into a bind over? Just get up there and enjoy the fabulous flying in CoD!

My vids are not some sort of glossy commercial for CoD. They are totally unedited video captures of my flights, and I hope they show I'm having loads of fun. I really feel sorry for all the nitpickers who are incapable of that, because I guess it isn't just in this sim that they carry forward with that way too negative attitude...

Actually, I know that many/some would have found spit-girl and the mission to shoot the pilot down disrespectful on so many levels. Others might have seen the humour; in the same vain that some pilots found Robinson's Piece of Cake a horrible portrayal of pilots, and others found it realistic.

Bottom line is you can't please all. But the sim does shine in many areas, but as an offliner the game play does not stack up to something like BoB2 and I'm not being negative in saying this. It's just the fact. If the gameplay was better I'd be happily playing it.

Another excellent video, Frey!

You really capture the feeling of "being there", and your annotations are a big help. This vid certainly demonstrates the huge value of Teamspeak in locating the action quickly, not to mention covering each other's six in furballs.

My online vids are useless. Using TrackIR my head movements are guaranteed to render any viewer sea sick within 30 seconds --- or so my wife has told me! LOL

You do know there is a movie and video area?

Frey...

Think of propeller pitch as speeds on a bike...when you climb steeply...fine pitch (high RPM) is more efficient. When you cruise horizontally, coarse pitch (low RPM) will give you more speed, just like on a bike.

Y'know, although Frey seems a bit overly obsessive with getting his view-counts/channel views on Youtube and his website, this topic is a welcome break from the current of deluge of nothing.

Thanks for the input. Yup, I know about prop pitch (as you can see in my Spit tutorial vid), but I am probably not applying it perfectly.

In this mission I kept fine pitch all the way through. For take-off and climb-out, obviously. Then I did an Immelmann, where I think it was good to stay in fine too. You could then say that I should have gone into coarse when I tail the baddie, but I was actually quite happy with my closure rate. For the dogfighting I think fine pitch was appropriate again. I definitely should have gone into coarse when I high-tailed it back to the aerodrome, but somehow forgot about it. Honestly I also think it wouldn't have earned me many seconds. For landing I think fine pitch is best, if you need to gun the throttle and do a go-around.

I guess what I am saying in so many words is that I don't really see where in this mission I really really unquestionably ought to have gone into coarse pitch... If you see it otherwise can you tell me where?

Interesting topic, and I obviously could handle pitch better.

Our "movie" moderator has been so kind as to tell me that I can post my vids in the main forum, and then he will move them after a couple of days. Sorry to have ruined your day ;)

Philip, not so much a question of view counts, but definitely of getting written feedback, which is a main reason/motivation for me when I make these movies...

Yeah, I also think it is really sad that there is so little positive activity in the forums. I think it is in no small measure due to the absolutely excessive negativism by so many who should just move on if they really dislike CoD as much as they express, but I guess we won't agree on that ever.
