I remember watching a doco where a spitfire pilot was interviewed and the first time he opened fire, the guns were silent "hmmm... remarkable and quiet he thought" .. until he realised he hadn't switched from safety to fire!

i assume there was a noticable difference.

Saw this on BBC yesterday, Dan Snow's got a pretty cushty job to be honest :)

Don't think I've ever heard a weapon sound through TV that sounds anything like the real thing you hear in person...then again I've never heard a .303 fire in real life. :-P

yep, it's .50 cals, but still the pilot could tell us what it sounds like from the inside.

I've heard a .303 1917 BSA SMLE fired by a numb skull who shot when the line was supposed to be cold and most of us had our ear protection off.

It was about 10 years ago. My left ear still rings a bit.

Firearms are loud!!! a lot louder than on TV or in a Hollywood movie. Our computer speakers would be destroyed trying to duplicate accurate firearms sound pressure levels.

imo the sounds are much improved over previous titles, german 109 sounds spot on , they need to tweak the merlin sounds and heavy bombers more.
as for the guns i agree they need more dynamics ..little louder maybe even add a audio slider in options.
