Great models Guys ... I'll be grabbing the Tamiya 1/32 Mustang once its out, Revell will shortly have a 1/32 HE-111 out that is very reasonably priced when you consider the size it will be, have their 1/32 JU-88 and the quality although not quite up to Tamiya standard is still excellent.

Here is a test one built up http://www.hyperscale.com/2011/galle...11p132dw_1.htm

And sprue test shots ...

Some quality jobs there guys. I especially like the Fw. :)

Cockpit of the Zero I did some years ago, Tamiya 1/32nd. I'm more into armor these days.

I don't know exactly what you're looking for in terms of detail or accuracy (a p-38 without 3 engines? ;) ), but you can certainly purchase pre-built or nearly pre-built models.

What I mean is planes like this. Do such exist? Ones that come built in a package made of metal with all the moving parts and details. I don't want a model to put on a shelf, I want a toy with details that I wouldn't have to build.

The only bad thinga about 1/32 models is YOU NEED MUCH SPACE but i love them.

21st Century toys make models like that - the gear can be folded or retracted, the bombs or drop tanks can be removed, the canopy can open, and the pilots are fully articulated for posing. They are not metal though. Metal models are usually smaller, like 1/72 scale and have little or no moving parts.

You only have to attach the wings with a screw provided (let's face it, planes are not as compact as cars). No gluing, building, or painting required.

In addition to the above, this model has opening gun bays, moving ailerons, and slats. For all that under $80, it would make a great gift/toy I think.
