I'd like to see a patch of course, but how much can be done in a week?

I have no idea, but I think most of us are reasonably happy with the way the game runs now...so maybe optimisation should take a back seat to some actual new or missing features - gameplay features - being introduced?
That's not to say further optimisation isn't important, but maybe it's not the main thing to concentrate on now.
I can only speak for myself though.

Also, I concur with rattlehead about the backseat for optimization for now.

For me the beta patch was better in any kind. It was faster and for me i could enable options wich are now forbidden (clouds, shadows).

Lets hope for some real patch tonight.

It allows certain aspects of the game to be tampered with, like making new maps and ground graphics. It just depends on how much they allow to be changable.
