It is true that head shaking is very strong and makes aiming while turning almost impossible. You have to really line up for the shot. It is especially noticeable with 20mm cannons of the Bf 109 and 110.
Then again I never flew a ww2 fighter so what do I know... |
the opinions go to two sides.... but its a fact that the head shaking was not such hard in reallife...
to the video of the p-51 flight, you can clearly see that the pilote is not shaking at all even at the turns and roll... (you have to watch the pilote and not the camera itself....) fact is that the shaking is to strong. those old ww2 planes were not able to roll fast enough to let your head bumping into the canopy. and also keep in mind that the pilote knows when he begins to roll, so he will hold against the g-forces preventing him from hard shaking |

Well i do have the experience and actually yes you head shake quite a lot but the distance travel by your neck is what is a bit much for me here Pitch up and down is a bit much if you are stripped .. It depend of which aircraft you are in as well.. Russian's lighter fighter craft will have more quick shakes.. vs. US ;)
So head shaking "yes" it can even be even more vibrations, fuzziness even more quick brutal movements but not too much rubber neck travel as we see. If i can get teh settings i could show exactly how it is. |
Track IR in COD has almost the same problem than RoF about the pilot's head seating almost behind the seat but it is much better made , the views are a bit too far back.. TRACK IR settings need to be reconfigured in our/your naturalpoint software to smooth out the movements.

Head shake is not really shake its waay to floppy doppy, plus the way the fighters buffet all over the place when you fire weapons is over kill too i think.
