Your ancestors are displeased.

Regarding that story BTW. I must be the reincarnation of Erich von Manstein as too, my name is so similar. ;)

I think my next avatar in the cockpit will be Kenny from Southpark. In the recent episodes is explained why Kenny always comes back to life without anyone but him remembering his death. Hilarious!

Wait until you have a bandit on your six ... then decide :D

Although I'm not sure if "ohshitohshitohshitohshitohshitohshit" is the correct form of prayer ...doesn't seem to help much ;)

The sad truth is that your serious. I only ask that you don't make fun of people who rather than declaring that there is no evidence and sufficing that for truth have actually done the research, and found the truth. I don't hold it against you, I used to be like you.

To me the whole reincarnation thing is silly, but I also understand that it's natural for human beings to seek after things greater than themselves, that's why the Jews made the golden calf like ten minutes after Charlton Heston went up the mountain, they just couldn't wait for something to worship. Everyone worships at some altar or another.

It's to bad that this thread couldn't evolve into a meaningful discussion, but that's unfortunately not the way of the forum.

I wouldn't be so sure, it's gotten me out of a few jams.

This made me giggle, but I suspect most are going "Huh?"

What truth?

Maybe you're confusing it with hope.

I try to enlighten people. I was raised catholic so for a time I believed all the false stories as well. Then one day a few years ago I started to question this whole magic thing and said to myself if this is all true there would be lots of evidence to support it. Well when I researched the baby jesus I couldnt find ANY evidence other than hearsay. Not one eyewitness account NADA, all there is is hearsay that doesnt come into record until around 93CE. And the gospel accounts arent eyewitness accounts so nothing in the bible is considered archeological or scientific evidence. Not one historian from the first half of the first century ever mentions a miracle worker named jesus much less the roman records kept at the time.

Oh, come on Oldschool, mate. Not one historian? What about Luke? Mark? Matthew? We have textual (archeological) evidence to date Matthew to within 20 years of Christ's death, and Mark shortly after. Luke wrote his two excellent histories with the benefit if these books and personal interviews with people who knew Jesus. There is more evidence for Jesus of Nazareth being a quite real person than for Augustus Caesar. There is one thing that there is no evidence for though. A Body. Had the Jews and the Romans been able to produce a body when the Christians were making such a nuisance of themselves, the little Jewish cult that was saying that this itinerant Rabbi who died on a Roman cross wasn't dead after all would have died just as surely as the rest of the Messiah cults.

Blind faith is a fools faith, and anyone who tells you otherwise, doesn't have any kind of real faith. If you hang around them long enough, you'll see. (As I'm sure you have)

BTW, Oldschool I don't believe the Catholics have the answers either, as they left the Bible behind long ago, but Jesus told me I have to love them too, so I do.

Well, Pontius Pilatus was a real historical person (there's evidence to back it up). You also have to take into account that Jesus was an extremist of his time. Many people choose to ignore him because of his blasphemy, that of pretending to be the son of God. Surely they would not want people to know about such a person and hence they did not write about him. Speaking for myself, I almost never go to church for other reasons than the usual marriages, baptisms and funerals BUT not having ANYTHING to believe in must be a terribly hollow way to live this life. I believe in something but I don't know exactly what it is, does it make any sense? probably not, does it enrich my everyday life? yes it actually does. What I don't believe in is forcing your religion on others or judging others for what they believe in, I guess it's called mutual respect.
