A brazilian writer, Nelson Rodrigues, once said: "People have no conscience at all, they only have fear of the police"
Without the real fear of being banned or something, this people will not stop to behave in a rude and disrespectful manner.

You really doesn't need to offend all people from South America and of course,I'm brazilian BTW.
What Nelson Rodrigues was trying to say was something about the human nature, but I don't know if you are really capable of understand something like that.
Actually, you only makes Nelson Rodrigues to be really right about what he wrotes...

In fact he's right. The problem is: This quote could be from any despot.
(Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Saddam etc)

I wasn't insulting SA - btw; why is it you guys are so thin skinned when it comes to such topics? I noticed that on a HL server too, one word and they freak out.
Those are not the South Americans I remember - went to school with Brazilians, Venezuelans etc. They were like Brazil (or whatever SA country) FTW! all the time.
Pretty annoying in fact...
I never had the impression they suffer from lack of self esteem.

down her in Oz many. many years ago, we had the 21 Squad and things were nice... if you thugged out, they gotcha. one just didn't mess up with them about.
Sadly that squad was disbanded and look at what we have now.

I understand what you're writing ibuchele about the human nature... being sent to the "naughty corner" doesn't work :)

The best thing to do with someone who is being a pest is ignore them. It drives them crazy.

Off Topic but yet very much related

The one thing all those poor kids, who, have gone berko with smallarms in the US schools (and others around the world) have one thing in common... that is being shunned, teased/ tormented, humiliated and denigrated.

I hope we don´t have the secret police moderators, like many forums worldwide have...

He was wrong though.

(eg. Who do the police fear? Why doesn't the army take over? - and ten thousand other objections. Only the pampered and the authoritarian can really believe that the police keep much of anything in check)

Please,my point and certainly Mr.Nelson Rodrigues too, was that the human race as a whole is not really self disciplined by nature.
That's why we create laws,right?
Because we are a race capable of the most marvelus examples of love and sacrifice for the others but also the more montruous acts against other human beings. It was not a quote about the police, literally, for god's sake...
And he certainly wasn't wrong.Just look around,it's easy to see.All the strong democracies in the world, have strong laws punishing criminals AND (this is the real difference) laws really work on those countries.
Here is a strong critic about my own country in this matter.
Off topic enough, this is becoming too political for my taste.
