Can you deliver any trustable sources for.... fountains?
I mean, not those post war reports. Even still existing fountains are mostly made by new spare parts. Is there any original left? We need such sources to do it correctly or none at all. You know... |

The USA indeed had airship aircraft carriers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Akron_%28ZRS-4%29 Learned that e few days ago and almost couldn't believe it. |

The post of letum reminds me of whatnot's "spaghetti is not realistic without tomato" post. LOL |
The problem with water fountains is keeping the U Boats out.

Now everybody sing:
This is the tale of the Gremlins Told by the P.R.U. The incredible tale of the Gremlins But believe me, you slobs, it's true. When you're seven miles up in the heavens, (That's a hell of a lonely spot) And it's fifty degrees below zero Which isn't exactly hot. When you're frozen blue like your Spitfire And you're scared a Mosquito pink, When you're thousands of miles from nowhere And there's nothing below but the drink It's then you will see the Gremlins, Green and gamboge and gold, Male and female and neuter Gremlins both young and old. It's no good trying to dodge them, The lessons you learned on the Link Won't help you evade a Gremlin, Though you boost and you dive and you fink. White ones will wiggle your wingtips, Male ones will muddle your maps, Green ones will guzzle your Glycol, Females will flutter your flaps. Pink ones will perch on your perspex, And dance pirouettes on your prop; There's a spherical, middle-aged Gremlin who'll spin on your stick like a top. They'll freeze up your camera shutters, They'll bite through your aileron wires, They'll bend and they'll break and they'll batter, They'll insert toasting forks in your tyres. That is the tale of the Gremlins, Told by the P.R.U., (P)retty (R)uddy (U)nlikely to many But fact, none the less, to the few." |

First I must make clear that water fountains are a secondary idea of mine. You should not tackle them until you have the mid-air repairs finished. That said.... Water fountains where undoubtedly a feature of the Second War. There are three reasons I can say this so assuredly: 1) The invention of water fountains predates the Second War by over 1000 years and the erection of fountains was wide spread across Europe for a period of several hundred years leading up to the Second War. 2) At archeological dig sites, fountains have been buried next to confirmed war items such as war guns, war planes, war documents and war veterans. 3) "The Chronicle of the 20th CenturyKey Events in Nuneaton and district in the last one hundred years compiled by Peter Lee 1940-49" Chronicle Four (LINK) of this historical document contains a rare, first hand account of the role fountains played in the Second War. The Entry for 1940 reads thus: Quote:
that they where "in connection with air raid precautions". No doubt, there would have been many more deaths on the 28th August, had it not been for the fountain. However, I don't think that should be modeled in IL2 for reasons of balance. I have made a 3d model of what I think the fountain should look like in IL2. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/9789/fountaind.jpg edit: but not white. |

So fountains should be camouflaged ? |
