thats pretty much right, but young cockerels and POL hens (point of lay) are quick close due to adolescence. or at least thats my understanding :)

They are wonderfully addictive, Sal bought the run and eglu and Poach and Scramble before we got together, then I moved in with her and the chickens :) And I probably spend more time with them fussing over them than she does. lol

And it was actually me encouraging her to get more, and unfortunately when scramble passed, we decided to get 3 more, rather than just 1.

But on the forums there are lists of what they can and can't eat, and there's a chicken clinic which is very helpful and supportive. But unfortunately chickens hide illnesses VERY well, so they're very hard to treat. But don't let it scare you, most things are quite rare or easy to treat.

and I love that on a flight sim forum there's an epic discussion about chickens, a relatively flightless bird :)

oh yes wing clipping is quite easy, but still quite scary cus you cant cut too far back or they bleed. but having seen a pro do it, it's actually very easy to cut the primary flight feather back to the length of the secondary feathers.

Dazz, by the looks of it mate unless you live in a mansion with lots of space, you dont need anymore pets. Unless you cook some of them now to make room ;)
