Oh and im not a turd.

You just want him to post a revised release date so that you can continue to flood us with your theory's...lol

Its just another excuse for one of Tree's "I told you so" topics... ;)

LOL I find it funny how many people get the word Voila wrong. (I'm missing the accent. I know.) Many spell it Walla, Vwala or Vwallah...... or any combination thereof.

Both touche and voila are pretty common expressions from the french language. Weird that they are so often spelled wrong.

Now if you ask me if the accent is ague or grave, I'd defer to our French members of the forum. It's been 30 years since my last French class. (I'm still working on my native tongue..... and no I don't mean gibberish. English :D)

EDIT: I can't believe that some of the members who have been here since the 1C/Maddox forums opened still get upset with Tree. I'd hate to see some of you around toddlers.

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

SHADDUP!!!!!!

For you Tree. Of course tongue is firmly planted in cheek.

It's good for a community when members are strongly opinionated, what's bad is them being dogmatic ;)

I'm glad Oleg is the man he is and let's us have little peeks at his "baby" in spite of all the bitching and moaning.

Is this the kind of positive feedback you were expecting, Blackdog_kt?

Seriously, though, I agree with you, Blackdog_kt! I said before (on a different forum) that Oleg and Co. are throwing out 'scraps to the dogs' and they must get some comic relief watching the antics...but that's not a bad thing! Obviously, he is willing to tell us a bit about their progress and nothing about the expected release date, for whatever reasons. More importantly is the fact that they still get a sense of how their innovations are being received and I'm sure they view the criticisms with a certain amount of tolerance and understanding. First of all, the statistics of the number of people who are critical of various things are few compared to the number of posters and the total number of viewers on any given update week. Second, a large number of criticisms, to a developer, when viewed in the context of some average percent of the total viewers can mean something....it's a statistic like a poll that tells the pollster that a percentage of the population feels strongly about some aspect. In this case, the weekly pictures are the poll, and the response can be judged from the feedback. However, you have to relate the number of positive and negative responses to the total number of viewers. Sometimes, it's apparent that a forum reader will make a first new post just because he feels strongly enough about something in one of the screenshots to finally post about it. And third, many posters are regulars who post again and again, so that has to be taken into consideration by the developers so it doesn’t warp the perception of the kind of feedback, positive or negative.

I think that they take all these things into consideration, they must be aware of them, and they are not dissuaded nor discouraged by the feedback. And I suspect that the weekly pleas for a release date or schedule just makes Oleg smile at the eagerness of the fans while he ignores those requests.

As a developer I would be much more worried about an apathetic audience than an over zealous one!

Bonne nuit !

Thanks. Is there a way to get those accents on a U.S. standard keyboard? If I ever have to use a word with "funny accents" I'll Google the word and copy/paste.

Yes, you invade the country, and 'liberate' them.;)

Only kidding. Under XP, you'll find them here - All Programs/Accessories/System tools/Character Map:

I expect they are in a similar place under Vista & Win 7. There are keyboard shortcuts too, if you need them often (i.e. if you are a Mötorhead fan).

Robert 09-16-2010 05:29 AM

Thanks Andy. I don't use them often, but it would be great to have the right spelling and characters when it comes to certain words.

And whaddayaknow. There it is.

WTE_Galway 09-16-2010 05:48 AM

Simplest way under Win7 is to type Character Map in the search box at the bottom of the start menu and then select" Character Map" :D

This is SERIOUSLY off-topic for an SOW update thread btw
