Quoted for truth.
Now I hope all DRM pussies will stand up and buy this game, we need to support these few rare great PC titles, finally 2011 shall be a year of great PC gaming after a few bald years..
And as mentioned before, there is no way in hell Oleg lets all his work slip into some clusterfuck fail with UBI after all these years of hard development and research.

I think the trailer looks absolutely stunning in most parts especially cockpits and lightning , yet some people whine incredibly about it.. since when did you become graphic whores..? you all know this game has
so much more under the hood than just the eye candy, besides the WOP style graphics at some locations isn't necessarily a bad thing as WOP doesn't look bad at all
graphically, and this is leaps ahead of anything the IL2 engine could achieve even with mods and/or "high-res" textures which some claim to be equally on par with Cliffs of Dover.(pathetic)

HD version of the official trailer can be downloaded here.

You shouldn't worry about the support, it's there... just not the DRM way ;)

Oleg has had run-ins with UBI management with the IL2 series. Thank goodness he did not let them 'rule' him and the IL2 development (SH3/4/5 are examples of a good sim series going progressively bad).

CoD development looks to be divorced of UBI influence, and maybe Oleg/1C are using UBI for wider distribution which is good business sense. This being the case hopefully the 'contract' is controlled by 1C which would be better for all of us - here's hoping :)

Great news. Congrats Oleg & Team on getting it to the finishing post :-)

This is exactly what i'm hoping as well. Once you sign it's over, so i seriously doubt he'd let his greatest achievement so far and countless work hours of his team be marred in any way, without first threatening to take it to a different publisher in order to get better terms.

Come to think of it, in the limited amount of predictions and wishlist items i've expressed over the years i managed to land a score. I have wanted detailed systems and engine modelling, along with a persistent online campaign mode and both of them happened. Maybe i'll be lucky and score a hit on this one too so we can all fly unhindered by artificially tacked-on "external" software

P.S. That buddy of mine i recently got into IL2? He's not only already contemplating about getting on board with the new series, he's actually thinking of getting the collector's edition as well. If all goes well and it's working as it should right out of the box, i might be able to push a couple of extra copies to some of my other gamer buddies as well, thanks to the training missions and tiger moth plus mutli-crew feature.

In March 2010 (!) UBISOFT released Silent Hunter IV and the support already stopped on December 1st 2010 ! UBISOFT closed down the producing romanian branch office. As the matter of fact the community is dead and we all wasted € 45,00 for a DRM infested, buggy, unfinished piece of s....oftware with a campaing ending in 1943 ! So UBISOFT already screwed one of my favourite games and I HOPE AND PRAY that they will not do the same with the other one. Don't get me wrong, but I'm not that excited ! UBISOFT turned into a greedy company protecting the interests of their shareholders only. They don't give a sh*t for their customers. Remembering UPLAY.......

Anyway, I'm an optimist and will of course support Oleg efforts....4 weeks after the release.

P.S.: Although it is probably a rhetorical question; will there be a dedicated server for IL2 Sturmovik "Cliffs over Dover" ? ;)

It was the SH5 not the 4th my friend:rolleyes:
