Xilon raises another interesting point about the G.50. I know the original G.50that shipped with Forgotten Battles all those years ago would have no need of a sand filter as shown on the pics above. With 4.10, I understand that DT will be correcting the propellor spinner for Italian G.50s to the rounded one seen in the pictures from North Africa while leaving the pointed Finnish spinner as is. Perhaps in 4.11 they could add the sand filter and corrected venturi position in a similar manner.

Cheers,

Fafnir_6

bf-110 11-11-2010 07:47 PM

Why the earlier G.50 had closed cockpit and later ones didn´t?
And,is there any plans of TD for adding other versions of the G.50?
The G.50 bis looks different than the one we have in IL2.

carl 11-11-2010 07:55 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why the earlier G.50 had closed cockpit and later ones didn´t?
made jumping out a little quicker for the italians i guess:shock:

Romanator21 11-11-2010 08:14 PM

The Italians didn't like the closed canopy and thought it was restrictive and dangerous. The Mc.200 also had a closed canopy in its initial form. You can also see why "thoroughbreds" (they had a great racing lineage like the Spitfire) like the Mc.200 and G.50 have that horrible hump, spoiling the lines and aerodynamics in order to give pilots the visibility they wanted.

Xilon_x 11-11-2010 10:10 PM

Sorry but i want post the italian fiat g50 for EXPERIMENT CARRIER AQUILA.

Insuber 11-11-2010 10:23 PM

The closed cockpit of the first series of the G.50 and Mc.200 had a technical defect, which prevented its opening above a certain speed. Obviously this defect can be deadly in case of plane failure. That's why both Fiat and Macchi preferred to remove it before an adequate technical solution was found. This decision penalized the aerodynamics but solved the visibility issues caused by the low quality plexiglass.
Moreover, the open cockpit allowed an easier escape in case of take-off or landing accidents, which plagued the early G.50's causing several casualties.

And no, Italian pilots didn't jump quicker than their counterparts ...

Spudkopf 11-11-2010 10:36 PM

G’day

Not wishing to appear rude or anything, but this thread should be about Dev’ updates for 4.10 (which is now being bug checked for release) so should not these correction requests be posted in the “Daidalos Team's Room -QUESTIONS AND REQUESTS ONLY on IL2 Authorized Addons” thread - http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=8815 for consideration in future patch development, I mean that where I posted my requests as I thought that was the correct thing to do!

What i'm trying to convey is that it's not only about what we say, but how we say it as well. If my command of the language allows me to dance around a bit and not step on someone's toes i will do it. That doesn't mean i can't express a disagreement though, i can just be a bit smooth about it and this also gives my ideas a better reception because the other guy won't get defensive.
However, if my command of the languge is insufficient to do that, i might come off as aggressive and insulting when i express a disagreement and people will jump on me ;)

I'm not trying to be back-seat moderator here, i'm just trying to pacify things a bit because a lot of times we get valuable debates devolving into point-scoring matches between people. Hope this is clear enough and not grounds for a misunderstanding, as the furthest thing from my intentions is to start arguments and troll people. Cheers

I actually meant what I said, Mate. I wasn't living up to my own standards, I appreciate being called out. Keeps me honest.

G'day Xilon_x

Please don't get me wrong, I was not saying that you or anyone else for that matter should not post your requests to correct error in models etc, if they are valid then all the better, I was merely pointing out that maybe they belong in the appropriate thread, so DT can hopefully find them easier. At the same time I do agree that there is a need for DT to be informed of potential errors on items they are posting in their updates.

However if the patch is as near to release as I suspect (or should I say hope) then any major modifications may need to be addressed in following patches, which is where the bug and requests threads make the contribution.

bf-110 11-12-2010 12:30 AM

Is that the same reason for the A5M,I-16 and P-26 not having closed cockpits?

And as Xilon said,it would be a dream to have Aquila and Graf Zeppelin with proper planes in IL2...but that´s rather a dream, not a possibility.

Xilon_x 11-12-2010 01:06 AM

yes yes bf-110 if developed carrier Aquila and Graf Zeppelin we canche the course of ww2 story not possible.
but in ww2 another tipe of carrier in europe reall exist.and are operative.

Yep, especially considering the "proper" planes would be the Messerschmitt bf155 (basically a 109G with folding wings) and the torpedo equipped ju87D. The 155 never got even as far as a prototype.

The Fieseler Fi 167 and 109T people talk so much about were obsolete well before 1942/1943 so they would be totally inappropriate for the period when the historical Graf Zepplin was expected to be complete.

Hawker17 11-12-2010 09:22 AM

Please continue this discussion/request in the appropriate thread. This one's for TD patch updates only.

Thank you.

Xilon_x 11-12-2010 09:53 AM

ok wat do you want call new apropiate Tread?
Bug of il-2 sturmovik?

ElAurens 11-12-2010 11:41 AM

The Graf Zeppelin would have lasted about a week in combat service.

The Germans had no clue about how to operate an aircraft carrier, the types of aircraft necessary to survive a life at sea, or even a clue what a proper surface navy should be.

Now on to what this thread is supposed to be about.

Now on to what this thread is supposed to be about.

That carrier was meant to serve a sea based recon station(hence the huge guns and armor) - you can't compare it to US or Nippon carriers.;)

ElAurens 11-12-2010 04:52 PM

I understand it's purpose, but my statement still stands.

One ship is a meaningless gesture. It would have been the prime target of the Royal Navy, and USN as well.

The Bismarck and Yamato had big guns and plenty of armor, for all the good it did them.

One week, then a permanent ticket to Davy Jones' Locker.

Be sure.

JtD 11-12-2010 06:53 PM

Oh boy, is there a pill against ignorance?

ElAurens 11-12-2010 09:38 PM

I know JtD, I've been trying to find them for you.

The first step to a cure is acknowledging your problem.

Oh,no,I mean for 1946 missions.I believe both could be easy to do,since ground models might be easier than planes to code, and both carriers operated same planes that are ingame, just needed to add a hook, new skins and folding wings.

But for now I guess TD should concentrate at more common stuff.

Seeker 11-13-2010 11:02 AM

I wonder if it could be possible to program the AI to perform manouvers?

I've been watching some "Fighting Woodpeckers" video's on Youtube, and I think it could be cool to have some flight display manouvers listed in the QMB to practise formation flying.

Hello Eddie. Update was posted just week ago here:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=17235

Nearmiss requested that it further updates would be posted as separate threads, since this one is getting quite large and messy. I don't mind if this gets locked. No need to have two update threads. There is still the old "requests" thread and 4.09 bugs thread.

haha .. well could be worse, it could play the Macarena instead of ringing a bell :P

Didn't Marvin the paranoid android from hitch-hikers guide have a similar complaint about doors ?

And then there is "have a nice day". We don't get that too often in the UK though, because the response will very likely be "I'll have whatever sort of day I feel like, thanks!!"

The movie had :
Quote:

Ghastly, isn't it? All the doors on this spaceship have been programmed to have a cheery and sunny disposition.
The book :
Quote:

"Ghastly," continued Marvin, "it all is. Absolutely ghastly. Just don't even talk about it. Look at this door," he said, stepping through it. The irony circuits cut into his voice modulator as he mimicked the style of the sales brochure. "All the doors in this spaceship have a cheerful and sunny disposition. It is their pleasure to open for you, and their satisfaction to close again with the knowledge of a job well done."
As the door closed behind them it became apparent that it did indeed have a satisfied sigh-like quality to it. "Hummmmmmmyummmmmmm ah!" it said.

Due to various problems with MDS features, some of them had to be postponed, including multicrew (a shame, it was one of my favorites), until we find a solution. Current delay is much about MDS too, so press your thumbs, that at least something of it will stay in in the end.:grin:

Ah... no so funny, I know. Main features are doing fine anyway.

SG1_Gunkan 11-17-2010 09:03 PM

Thanks for the hard work! we want the 4.10 as soon as possible. We love you.

BadAim 11-17-2010 09:42 PM

Damn shame, but to be expected when your trying to wrestle things out of the code it was never meant to do. Here's a toast to going "a line to far".

Romanator21 11-18-2010 07:36 AM

I'm curious if it has anything to do with the basic structure of the game - those .sfs files.

It seems after every update that more are simply tacked on to the existing product. It would seem to me that it could be more beneficial to replace them instead? This could streamline things and keep certain parts of the code from interfering with the new ones, no?

(I'm programming illiterate btw)

No, that has nothing to do with the SFS files. The reason for new SFS files, added to the game, is simply, that patches need to be small enough for downloading. If we would just edit existing SFS files, you would have to download almost the whole game each time of a patch. And there is no possibility of dynamical file-changing during an installation - so to call incremental file updates.

Oh sh***... :(

MDS is one of the main features in my eyes... the best addition to IL-2 ever. Well, I could live without Multicrew, but moving objects, radar, load-out and spawning restrictions... those are essentials.

Anyway, thank you for the update, Caspar.

As long as the navigation aiding tools are still there, I can live happily without MDS, even without new maps, without some fancy Italian aircrafts, without the winged pig called Hs-129 :)) And just don't forget, 4.10 is only the beginning of the whole new game simulating the night battle over the Reich. Only kids fly in daylight, in good weather, seeing enemy AC from 10km away, diving happily from 9000m and boasting about their kills. Real men find their own way in darkness, using it as the main weapon to sneak behind enemy, coming as close as 100m before firing. I really hope that DT will continue their magnificient works in radar and avionics.
Just want to say thank you DT :D

Krt_Bong 11-18-2010 01:38 PM

As someone who has played with the MDS I can tell you that there are indeed some interesting "bugs" to deal with. It's cool, but it's not perfect. I hope they can figure it out, remember Oleg always maintained that it wasn't possible to do it but maybe it's more likely he knew already the headache that it was going to be to make it work. Getting everybody to "synch" up is just the tip of the iceberg.

For me the complete opposite applies, dump everything else just to give me the Hs129, as real men don't hide in the dark they actually fly in the weeds in broad daylight where every man and his dog can have a pot shot at you, both from above and below ;)

28_Condor 11-18-2010 07:25 PM

S!

The MDS there is no an extravagance!

When IL2 was released internet connection not allowed speed enough to put togheter players online and IA in dogfight servers without ruin playability...

Keep today (ten yars after) this siystem is an anachronism, if we can change things through new patchs there is no reason not to do it!

Keep the good work DT! Keep the MDS! ;)

Cheers!

JG53Frankyboy 11-18-2010 07:32 PM

my very PERSONAL opinion about the MDS is the following:
IF it make the biggest proplems and is causing the delay of 4.10 i would skip it !

the biggest and most known dogfightservers in the HL will stay with 4.09 anyway to be compatible with their MODs (and at least UP includes Zutis MDS already).
They will stay with the MODs because they "need" all the flyable planes and stuff that the "default" IL2 has not !

sure, in a time, the MODs will be compatible to 4.10 (with its new FM, navigation ads and so on). And than again these MODs will MOST propably contain Zutis MDS again............

so, why harm with it in an official, default gameversion ?!

as i play online 99,9% COOPs ;) , triggers would be much more interesting :)

FlyingShark 11-18-2010 07:53 PM

I agrea with Frankyboy.
No mather how great the MDS would be, we have to wait for it anyway, if they would release the rest that does work bugfree, then we would at least have all that already. Team Daidalos can still continue working on the MDS and include it in a future patch. After all, they do this for free, without being payed so, who are we to complain if the MDS is not included.

~S~

bummer. I'm sure im going to love all the other work done on 4.10, but I was really looking forward to the multi-crew as a way to ease my non hardcore flight sim friends into playing il-2 with me. $10 on steam makes it easy for me to give the game away.

Keep up the good work, but try to ram that feature in however you can!

MDS 1.2 for v4.10

What are the new features of this added/removed please.

As many others who have MDS missions, it would be good to know what needs to be changed using the FMB to keep them usable.

For example:

In the past sometimes mission need tweaking after patches change aircraft performance, but with no mention in the updates read me that anything was changed. but the mission is different because there were changes made we were not told of.

It would be good if we are notified what differences there are in advance, or at the release point so there's no errors in the missions.

Since beta testing is incomplete, it seems unlikely that DT could answer this with certainty right now. My advice would be to wait for the readme.

What's about this patch? It was planned to release half year ago! I believe, patch is going to finish, but when ?
Sorrry for my bad english...

Regards, iMattheush

Every update since then indicates that it is in testing right now and things are being finished up. It'll be good when it comes... maybe a little while longer yet.

Ok, thanks ;)

If the bugs are that big, they should be easy to find... :-P

Tempest123 12-01-2010 09:03 PM

So there is one giant bug left then, lol.

Good to see some humor here.

We all need to relax a bit.

Cheers.

90% of the time, a big bug like that is due to a "-" instead of "+". ;)

JG52Uther 12-02-2010 01:10 PM

There must be a bit of pressure to get 4.10 out before SoW. ;)

FlyingShark 12-02-2010 01:13 PM

I think we will all enjoy SoW as wel as 4.10 one day, within a couple of decades:

Two weeks.

Either that, or when it's done.

Sorry, I nodded off a hundred pages back.

Is there any real news about the release date?

HW3 12-10-2010 08:10 AM

Two weeks, be sure.

;)

I have the impression that asking for release date is not really appreciated by TD.

At least we can have a laugh about it from time to time here.

We will release it as soon as we can do. You know, we don't even like it anymore, its starting to stink in our pocket. We'd rather would like to throw it away now, but someone of you might pick it up and hurt himself. Too dangerous.

I hope it might be released by the end of this year.
But then again, I was hoping for end of the summer release...
It will be released eventually, it's not abandoned or anything like that.

So, the short answer would be something like:
It's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Romanator21 12-10-2010 10:34 AM

No worries DT, it's a big under-taking.

Take your time, maybe take a vacation from the project if it's starting to "stink in your pockets". It would be bad if you guys got burned out on this.

For everyone else: It will be ready when it will be ready :)

Feathered_IV 12-10-2010 10:54 AM

I appreciate how much work has gone into it by so many people. Trying to weave it all together must be a nightmare. I wish you all luck. Perhaps more frequent, smaller additions would be better than one big one in future.

JG53Frankyboy 12-10-2010 11:05 AM

i personally dont expect the release before end january 2011.
I guess the TD members have more important things to do the last two weeks before Christmas and than in the holidays................at least i hope they have ;)

but a release of the RedMe PDF, as suggested in the past (and partly done already with the Hs129 stuff :) ) would be a nice move. I guess there is lot of reading needed, something for cold, dark winter nights :D

addman 12-10-2010 11:18 AM

I really appreciate all the work that TD has put -still putting- on this patch, I know some people are getting impatient but considering this is a free patch -remember that DLC isn't all free anymore- we can't put demands on the team. Yes! yes! I know it has been said before but I will repeat it as long as people are pestering TD with "when will it be released?!" questions. As long as I GET the patch I'm happy :)

That's good enough for me... possible but not likely gives me more to wrap my head and hopes around than nothing.. or Easter....

Asheshouse 12-10-2010 12:21 PM

Thanks for the update. Nice to hear things are progressing, even if slowly.

Well that's clear enough, 'not known yet' (but could just beat SoW!). At least it's an answer.

Anyway we have enough to play with for now even if I musn't mention what. TBH it was more out of curiosity and a general irritation with things not coming through quickly enough: SoW, ATI6970 (next week!), my new rig waiting for the latter.

I really must stop reading threads, I'm getting testy.

Qpassa 12-10-2010 07:42 PM

Hope for end year!

I wasn't criticising you here, I was just pointing some people to an impression I have (here and on other forums of things not related to Il2). I only wanted to keep the good mood (we can have a laugh from time to time). I know well enough how it goes when developping things (more modest than what you do but I make my own noseart and even there I always find stuff to fix or redo because it doesnt look as good as I first thaught it did).

EJGr.Ost_Caspar 12-11-2010 11:02 AM

Didn't understand it as that much critics... and tried to be humorous myself. :)
