S!

An update or a message is many times better than silence. Fans get a feeling they are not forgotten or ignored. So thanks a lot BlackSix for the update :)

Insuber 01-25-2012 02:24 PM

Yeah, few words are better than the usual silence. Thank you BlackSix!

These are true words of wisdom. We appreciate any bit of news you can provide to us. And having some news on progress makes the waiting a bit more tolerable :)

Heheh!

My desperation got a tad bit more tolerable flying last Friday our local aviation museum's brand new Bf 109 simulator... Awesome cockpit with IL-2 1946 as a sim.

Here's a video of several times winner of WRC rally Tommi Mäkinen flying that very same simulation

by the way we have here very nice Finnish Air Force Me 109 G6 at the museum... So please feel welcome to enjoy the plane at it's full glory and fly the thing on the sim. :)

Great, looking forward to it!

Hi,

Great looking picture! Been to our own aviation museum in Malta just today, will be in Helsinki next week - where is your aviation museum?

:)

Flanker35M 01-25-2012 08:14 PM

S!

The museum is within 2km from the Helsinki airport. It has less planes than the museum with this Bf109G-6 situated in Jyväskylä. I've been sitting in the Bf109G-6..oh boy took days for the grin to wear off!! :D

Mmhh...might both be worth a visit then, especially if they'd let me sit in the G6 as well...was allowed to sit in the Spitfire MkV they have in Malta so I know how you must have felt.

Damixu 01-25-2012 09:30 PM

the museum I was referring is "Keski-Suomen Ilmailumuseo" in Tikkakoski, Jyväskylä in central Finland.

My home town and my home airfield for local flight club for flying four seater airplanes :)

I flew into your home airfield a few months ago.....assuming you mean the airport or do you have a smaller airstrip nearby?

hiro 01-26-2012 04:47 AM

awesome thanks for the update

Excellent! I may have to extend my stay in Finland then to go up there. I also have a friend in Sodankyla, but that's even a bit further up...how's the road network in Finland at this time of year? Advisable to go by car from Helsinki?

What plane do you fly privately? I fly a YAK 18T.

:)

Flanker35M 01-26-2012 08:15 AM

S!

Roads are in good condition at most parts of Finland, especially the main routes. I would still consider train or plane for traveling..driving at winter speeds limited to 80km/h at most parts makes it VERY slow.

Sodankylä is not that far from where I live, Rovaniemi :D Been there at the film festivals during summer, quite a lot of people there :) I hope you enjoy your stay in Finland and get to the museums :)

Pluto 01-26-2012 08:23 AM

answer appreciated, ...

This is not a common issue as I can see from ATAG forum thread on this forums or from videos recorded on ATAG server http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=29297. A lot of fun is actually going on there. (Launcher crash is a big issue though.)

... thanks for your feedback Ataros, I changed my network settings but the game-crashes remain a major issue as you already said, hope they get it fixed some day. Good if you can shift your interest, while waiting, to some other nice games, ...:)

Thanks for the infos, would want to make a stop in Rovaniemi too, heard you have a great National Park nearby :)

To fix launcher crash you can try ATAG_Snapper's hint to delete the cache folder before launching a game (could anyone create a batch file for this?) or these settings http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpos...&postcount=152

BTW. A new objectives-based mission by podvoxx is run on Repka #1 . A lot of work for ground-pounders there. May help to skip time to the patch faster :)

The Central Finland Aviation museum is indeed a great place. Visited a few years ago and wrote an article about the museum for the biggerst Danish aviation magazine "Flyv".

They also have an immaculate P-39 captured from the Russians in original cammo, white US stars overpainted with red stars. Jyväskylä is also a lovely little town, very friendly people, so all in all a must-visit for Il-2 fans! :)

Me and the 109:

.BAT to delete cache:

rmdir /s "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache"

it will ask you to confirm the action( delete).

you can download here:

Remember to change your USERNAME!

Flanker35M 01-26-2012 01:36 PM

S!

Kerosene..yes here is a nice park nearby. During winter you can ski there as the paths are not kept open ;) Rovaniemi is a nice little place and if you stop here just let me know! Would be great to meet other propellor heads :D

Freycinet, glad you liked the museum. I visit it whenever possible, just to see the Bf109G-6 :) This same example flew the last flight of the plane 1953 in FiAF. Was interesting to read and hear how they struggled to keep the Bf109's airworthy when rest of the world went to jets and all that. Saying was that fly a day, repair 2 weeks..tells about the spare part problems etc. One Bf109G-6 was assembled from 3 different planes and quite a few even went over a total overhaul at the aircraft factory. Good they spared some for museum and not trash them all like the bombers for example. One Blenheim survived and is now on display at the museum :) Worth seeing!

Thanks a lot! What should be the command to make it start CloD automatically after clearing cache? It will be easier for everyone to place this .bat file on the desktop and start CloD this way only to fix the launcher crash issue.

Qpassa 01-26-2012 02:57 PM

Add this line:
START /D "X ( YOU HAVE TO SET THE PARTITION):\Steam\SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" Launcher.exe

for example:
rmdir /s "C:\Users\Javier\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache"
START /D "J:\Steam\SteamApps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" Launcher.exe

Download link:
qpassa.site90.net/FAQIL2E69/CacheIL2v2.bat

If you want to use in your desktop and you think it's ugly, you can create a file shortcut and change its icon in its properties( selecting the Launcher exe icon)

Thank you! This did not start Steam for me (gave error if Steam was not runing) and I am too lazy to start it myself :) So I changed it to:

Start Game:
Code:

rmdir /s "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache"
Start "" "steam://rungameid/63950"

Go directly to Repka #1 server bypassing menus (change IP for any other server):
Code:

rmdir /s "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache"
Start "" "steam://connect/84.17.22.14:27016"

Manual:
1. Copy to notepad.
2. Replace the USERNAME with what you have in your system path.
3. Save as a .bat file, i.e. a file with a "bat" extension. (How to create a bat file.)

Please test if it helps to stop launcher crash.

EDIT Attached file should work for everyone at least on Win-7. No need to edit path/username, just extract and run. Please report if it helps to stop crashes.

Freycinet, thanks for the info and a great pic of you and the G6!

Flanker35M, thank you very much for your kind invitation, will PM you as soon as my travel plans become a bit more clear. Would be good fun to meet, my friend from Sodankyla is also a prop - head!

Awesome KeroseneA1!

Wow, Yak18T an acrobatics capable plane. I wish sometimes in the future to get my greedy little hands on some acrobatics plane and fly some acrobatics.

I do fly mostly Piper Cherokee/Warrior & Cessna 172 kind of stuff.

By the way today we had here sunny but cripsy -20 celsius degrees weather here and I had an opportunity to co-pilot with an experimetal skiplane, Kitfox. That was awesomely different and challenging compared to hard surface operated nose wheeled and more heavier/stable planes.

a picture of skimounted Kitfox before the trip
