Would be nice, if BOM would be given away cheaper for CloD Customers :-).

The fact is: There are only a few (2?) really good Combat-Flightsim Devs (Companies) out there. So, we can only hope, they get it up and running.

They plan to but only when they have a solid and stable code base in place, otherwise chaos will reign and modders will be complaining when the code changes considerably with the next patch, breaking all their hard work.

Personally, I can't wait for the map editing tools to be released. I'd love to see a pilot's map with the rail network added....really missing that in my navigation.

I'm sure the talent in the community will produce some outstanding map mods with time. Also from the devs comments it seems likely we'll be able to mod the AI routines too which would be amazing.

Unfortunately that would mean less revenue to continue the development and a weaker 1c which is not in our long term interests really.

With inclusion of what Sutts said, I think you might be missing something here. The plan is to released the SDK once it is ready for use . But even if it gets released, it fixes just one part of the problem. As I understand , CloD is coded to have an open module and a fully closed official module. So that modders do their stuff and create their game, while the official development goes on just like with IL2. And that means a very wide timespan with at least few addons made in a "Forgotten Battles" manner.

So for people doing vanilla only such as me, the game won`t get fixed even if SDK is released. So the developper must work on the game in order to keep the official version of CloD running and expanding anyway. That is ofcourse not without numerous fixes the community might bring into the official version as it was in the past ( numerous examples of it ; the track recording memory issue for example - hotfixed by 3rd party, acknowledged and released in official 1C patch).

...but it might be some nice offer, for people who spent round EUR 60,- or even more for CloD and got a sim in Alpha/Betastate?

If BOM has all critical issues ironed out, i cannot see a problem, which makes 1C "weaker".

It could be like any other "Upgradepack" for existing "Basesoftware" Base = CloD, Upgrade = BOM.

No CloD = Full price BOM. Thinking of Steam this should be possible...

Just my thoughts...

This is possible to do on steam. The s.t.a.l.k.e.r series did it with their later releases, if you had one or the other of the first two game you got as much as a 50% discount when you went to checkout.

I think that given the state of the game on release if people bought before a certain date (say before the big sale) it would be good to give a discount of BoM. GSC did this with their games that were a bit buggy (but arguably better than CoD on release). It would probably persuade me to buy BoM at release, if not I will probably wait for a sale like there were for CoD.

Let's do an invasion of Britain. . .

"Oops! That didn't work out very well, how about we move on to Moscow? That's got to be a winner!"

It's actually the other way around. Russia and the East was always Hitler's focus. He never wanted to go to war with Britain, and never planned in advance for an invasion. Order's before number 16 dictated that he would break Britain by waging war on her economy: ironic considering that the German war machine was only geared towards Blitzkrieg.

Sounds very simular to a Ponzi scheme:-P

There is angoing assumption in all discussions that BoM will fix most, if not all, of CLoD's short-comings.

That could well not happen (leaving past experiences out of it for a moment).

Having worked in a software house, this is unlikely - especially in a complicated dev like this. As with most things, I'd expect compromises and areas that receive priority.

Its not exactly a new game, but an expansion. They have said continued support for CoD will remain- how else would they get anyone to buy BoM?

And there goes another thread due to a few posters who think they are more important than anyone else here.

I have said it before, this is not a school playground. If you think you are going to ruin it for everyone else, you are wrong.

I'm not quite so forgiving - after numerous Warnings and having to delete 60 or so posts in this thread alone, a few of you deserve a little holiday because you knowingly ignored forum rules; hijacked a thread and argued like children, with wild speculation and blatant lies to top it off - even after several warnings over many threads.
I'm now banning some of you to cool off for a couple days. So you can think about what you've done and come back and be constructive, not just argumentative and off topic.

Consider this a warning Ban. Next time any of you want to test the moderators you will get a much longer ban if you can't control yourselves. This forum is here for the enjoyment of everyone, and a handful of disruptive people WILL NOT be allowed to ruin it for everyone. I suggest all of you that chose to degrade this thread go and read the forum rules again and come back acting like an adult with some manners.
