Excelent movie.
The scene with the 109's droping on top of the spits is great. Oh and the awesome firepower of the 110's.:-P |
Awesome work Oleg and team.
I guess at 3:13-3:14 the fighter should be destroyed by the huge debris (whole rear of that plane) crashing into it? Seems like collision has been switched off for the vid. |
This could be the most perfect video clip ever made by man, and still we would have idiots posting criticisms of it, you have to wonder what sort of people they are in real life.
I'm guessing the sort of nit picking, irratating, obsessive type that no-one can stand, so they have to live alone just them and their collection of "interesting" and "unusual" nail clippings........ :( |
What I forgot to say:
Oleg, the first clip (trailer) needs to go around the world. It's perfect for advertising this sim. Hopefully you told Ubisoft about it, they wouldn't realise because they just don't care about this title. Are the sounds in the London vid ingame sound? (train, spit flyby, baby(?), flyby at the end of clip) |
That was a very satisfying combat sequence, we got to see almost every single aircraft type featured in the sim, doing what they would need to be doing in a realistic scenario.

Overall, there's some very nice features presented too, the propellers in the heinkel when the movie goes to slow motion for example, which seem to be rendered this way from within the track replay function. And let's not forget the combination of tracers and the smoke trails around the 4 minute mark (when the German fighters bounce the spits and in the 110 shots), it looks so close to reality...the damage models, the fact that we can see improved AI i the gunners that seems more human: they can miss, die and be scared and not shoot at all, as evidenced in the do17 kill by the spit...try parking on a bomber's six like that in IL2 and see how long you last :-P Overall, this is putting the excitement back on. Not that i had any doubts about the overall quality after piecing together in my mind everything we've been shown so far, but it does make a welcome difference to see the sum of all the parts animated and moving. |
Ubisoft and care in the same sentence? Isn't that a crime against common sense and logic? ;)
|
Yes, the tracers we see at 3:57ish should HOPEFULLY put an end to that whole debate. They look GREAT by any standard.
I'm very excited. |

I don't know if it as been asked before, but will your plane get damaged if it is hit by part that came from other plane (cowlings, wing, fusalage, engine, etc. that have been blown off).
Also, very nice work. Can't wait to buy it. And to all here... spread the word my little friends, spread the word... |
Simply great ! Thanks.

What I've been saying all along. So much negative talk, and all us old timers since the IL2 1.0 have been saying, " no one would be disappointed ".
Oleg has always delivered a great application. He has high standards for himself and the IL2 series... now the COD. http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/toldyouso.jpg So rejoice, and get ready to enjoy the greatest experience in air combat simulation....ever. Patience has it's rewards |
These are exactly the kind of videos we wanted to be drowned in.
Thanks - awesome work! |
Thanks Oleg and team you reign supreme:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Great movies.
I couldn't help but notice all the clocks in London. Do they actually tell the time? Were any of the sounds in London from the sim itself? |
It looks awsome, i buy it, but not happy about the visual damedge on the bombers :( It is proberbly so make et visual interesting for more costumers...but the 303 ripping a bomber apart so it looks like its hit by a direct flak hit.....
Well everything looks great, also the visual effects, nice visuals, love to se it all when i have the game...but on the realism factor its a minus 2 :( After the "whine" im thrilled, cant wait to fly it.....will be awsome soon to try this beast out.. L.T |
my only complaint with this game is that i can't get the collector's edition :(
|
3:12 - is it "Invulnerability" in effect or it won't be possible to collide with debris/junk in the air at all?
|
Right now, the clips are being scrutinized for every last detail, but once we are playing, and the immersion takes over, none of that will become obvious or important.
This is going to be a blast to fly. binky9 |
Great video. Really like the detailed 3d damage on the planes. The Spitfire getting nailed in the end looked like right out of a real guncam movie. Don't know if there were a lot of cinema effects used so it's hard to say if what we saw is really what we're going to get ingame. Got the feeling that post effects were on as in RoF, I can do without that so hope, if it's there, it's optionable. The reason it looks like the 111's doors are not springloaded is because it's in slow motion.
What really gets me is the superb details of the aircraft. The detail is so good that the 3d people start to look out of place. Almost like scale model aircraft. Just Amazing to see the spits engine under the cowling. The effect of the cowl flying off was also fantastic. Not a canned effect but the actual part, recognizable, flopping away in the slipstream. Only serious complaint I have is at 0:47. Very unrealistic. The Italians flew in open cockpits and the pilot wears his summer uniform without flying cap. His hair is badly modelled. Xilon is probably going to refute this but I'm sticking with it.;) @Raggz, you owe me breakfast and a new keyboard. |
Oleg the CoDfather - I love it  What a way to drown. Only one new troll so far today. It seems the CoDfather's marketing strategy is working: offer quality, improve it as needed and don't make outrageous claims with CFS3ish CGI videos.
|
Wonderfull stuff - I hope Oleg is right about the 25th - UbiShop is saying 31st , but my order for collecters edition still shows despatch after 21st March realease date - www -confused.com lol

TO OLEG:
Did your team use different PCs wehen they captured the scenes for the videos?? Because the last scenes looked very different than the first ones o.O |
So was the self shadowing turned off because the game engine is limited or because the machine of the guy who made the video reached its limits?
|
Forum members:
No after effects were used to enhance the video in a cinematographic way, only in-game effects, except for slight use of colour and shake filters. The video was made in basically 1 week after access was granted to the game, same basic gameplay as IL-2 and easy to learn and use. Shadows were turned down. Sometimes vulnerability was off, realistic gunnery off, etc. just to make it easier to capture the desired situation. Slow motion was obtained by recording at very slow game speeds, much slower than IL-2 1946. The movie was made in full HD mode at 25fps :) Kindly note that the game made available to me was still a BETA version and it would be undesirable for me to comment on any technical or gameplay matters :) The only comment I am prepared to make is that this game will totally surprise everyone. :) |

I don't know about any of you other guys, but I got cold chills at the end of the London vid.
Amazing. Thank you Oleg. |
vids are AWESOME. Thanks to the team. COD will set a new standard.
With that in mind, random lights on/off of the windows onn the buildings (not all of them all) would improve this thing 0,000001%. But there is always room for improvement despite de "AWESOMENESS" of what we have watched. " |
Fantastic work Oleg, bravo!! Another combat flight sim of this quality is a dream come true.
|
oi! put that light out!
..... shouts the ARP warden; I would think during all this period of the war blackouts were a (legal?) requirement, but the lit 0-100% feature is useful for movie makers

So the question should go - how close are they to the real thing? :) |
I found the composition of the score quite effective. Chapeau to Mr. Lyubimov.
I look forward to just cruising about London sight seeing: chasing down famous double decker buses, buzzing through the train platforms and balloon busting. Let's hope the damage model for the buses is as good as the Stukas! Brill bit of work boys. FLYING COLANDER (Aviation geek comment: wasn't British ack-ack fire famously white while German was black? FYI: minute 1:32 on video one.) |

I admit I'm really scared from what I've seen in this video (in term of DM). |
Quote:
Only "gripe" i can think of right now, 20mm (bf109) doesnt seem to differ anything from 303`s damage wise. |
Stunning......
|
I saw it too Manu, last video, but I was already thinking realistic gunnery had been turned off for footage of burning planes. Good to know it is also the case in this vid, but I don't mind, now it's full of action and good for sales:grin:;)
One thing I noticed on Italian aircraft though, at 0:47, isn't that Italian pilot getting bothered by the cold ;) Or did they really fly without any sort of head protection? |

Plus as the vid creator stated he used the non-realistic gunnery option just to get some of the shots he needed. Given Oleg & Co's modelling of the .303s in Il-2 seem to be roughly right, I don't think you'll have too much to worry about old bean. ;) |
Had to watch again..... and again.
Any body want some?http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...es/350uwx4.gif Another thing I haven't seen mentioned yet if formation sizes. They looked bigger than I expected. Hopefully this is a good sign. |
Very nice video, thanks Oleg.

If I was developing MS Flight I would curl up in a little ball knowing my job was now impossible. Excellent features right down to the signs on buildings (Joes books), to the aircraft splitting in half.
Also the fact that you can see through the cannon holes in the fuselage, into the inside of the plane! |
Just beautiful.
I think Oleg is a bit of a showman...tease tease bam! Actually, "Joe's Bookstore" is going to be New York, not London 1940, but I doubt I'll see it ever again;) |

Finally, your last comment is making me all the more impatient to try it out ;) |
Just had to say thanks Oleg (and crew) for your dedication and efforts.
I have been patiently waiting for this title for years (having bought all your IL2 products); the Battle of Britain is my favourite conflict of all time. I must say your teaser videos just keep getting better and better, and the detail and excitement of the combat in tonights offering is just breathtaking! I am enjoying the tantalising experience of waiting during this last final period, because (being middle-aged) I don't think I will ever see another Battle of Britain simulator that will come anywhere near the high mark that CoD is scoring! Thanks again, you've made one virtual flyer very happy  (yes, I have pre-ordered the collectors edition) Regards, BobTuck. |

It's looking great so far. Thanks for this update. A few things i noticed or came to my mind. It could be because of graphics settings but i saw a lot of repetition in the sea surface (texture tiling). Maybe also because of the settings there was this tail that came off from the plane, without some kind of heavy explosion would this realy happen? I haven't seen any real footage of this (yet) :) Lastly, bullet impact on the planes looks so real, but with small debry coming off it would be perfect, not just the big parts. Some kind of FX system could add a lot here.

Do you know of the damage model of the trains as I recon you're the artist behind them? I can't believe we might be installing this within a week! I won't believe it even when I'm flying my moth under the london bridge!!1one Can't stop watching the videos.. 8) |
Oh, Oleg, when I saw barrage balloons, the cure for fire awaken inside of me
Could we please see explosion of it? Pic'd be enough 8) |
Beautiful, In 2 weeks time there is going to be a lot of fully grown men thrown back to childhood, I can hear the wife yelling at me to "get off that bloody computer and come get your dinner" already! (mental note to self, buy better headphones this week)
Will have to hide myself away so that my 14yo son doesnt have to explain to his friends why his dad is dressed like a ww2 pilot and screaming abuse at the RAF in a fake german accent whilst frantically yanking a joystick and stomping on rudder pedals. Ps, thats not a baby crying at the end of the London vid, Its me, knowing I have to wait another two weeks! |
WOW !!!!!!!
I can't wait for my Collectors Edition to arrive so I can try all that for myself. Now that it seems to have gone gold, is there any confirmation of what the flyables and AI list is yet ? Thanks Oleg (and your team) for creating what I've dreamed about since "flying" my first simulator on an old ZX Spectrum. |
Great to see new child in action!
Repetition of wather surface is only minus, will be nice to make some kaos in code to avoid it...it destroy feelling of reallity. (I understand, it will be done whan our pc will become stronger...) |
great videos, really looking great now.

The vids also show that most of the updates to date have been teasers, showing shots of more 'older work in progress' than 'current work in progress' in my humble opinion. Not that I mind in the slightest. Absolutely wonderful update. Not long until 'chocks away'!;) |

The delivery date from CDON.com where I have ordered the game has just been pushed from march 25th to march 31th... Oh well. What's another week..
Skarphol |
Im real happy to see the clip of the Spit taking down the Do17.... with no tracers
thats how ima be rollin'... all API, no tracer... they'll never see it comin' |
'Just like the Movies'
Excellent video's Oleg and team. On high resolution the scenes look very realistic. I liked the sky and the ground haze effect in the first video. The Spitfire looks superb and the damage models very realistic. So good to see a Dornier bomber in the action.
Foobars London suburban station and Southern commuter train, captured the prelude to the Battle of Britain very well. The unmistakeable sound of those Merlin engines as the two Spitfires flew low over London, weaving to miss the barrage balloons, capped it all off for me - well done. DFLion |

no worries tho, still a great vid. |
Has anyone else noticed the AWESOMENESS of the the bombs dropping? I mean I can´t even describe it! All bombs at once or one after each other. Then how the fall - not straight but bouncing! This is soooooooooooooooo cool!
These videos really got me excited! Can´t wait! Спасибо Oleg! |
WIP - hopefully

Another thing i have noticed the ships seem to zig-zag!
|
I've now had a chance to watch the vids a few more times and I don't think my initial comments did them justice. They really are very very very good. You guys are the greatest.
Please get this vid up on the Ubi site as soon as you can. |
Really very nice, but I'm a little bit worried about the FPS (I know that there are effects in this vid but it doesn't seem very smooth, escpecially the low passes above london)
... I would have alose prefered a music by merlin than by andrey lyubimov and a city during the day to see the crowdy boulevards of london  ... just joking (I know that it will look like a ghost city with self driving vehicles but I agree to exchabge that feature against a better FPS). Are the camera shaking effects from the game ? |
Some of ammo tracers could be thinner... not Star Wars lasers.
I like smoke tracers visuals... Cпасибо вам...Oleg&Co. |
I think the spits sounded "merlinish" enough for me!
|
One week!!!!!!!!
|
Yes this point needs to be confirmed below..

They must have a damage model for air attack, i'm sure we had video long time ago of tank turret moving etc..? and on that point..AAA fire from ships..? Anyway...time to watch the video one more time before bed.....my wife doesn't understand..... !!!! . |
It's strange that so close to the release date nobody has ever heard a sound from BoB.
I would be also happy to se a little bit of the french landscapes. |

Man.The first movie is TRULY EPIC!
The second movie...the buildings remembered a bit the ones from IL2.I hope the video was on lower quality. BTW,would be great to pass throught the Tower Bridge. |

Don't worry, Oleg won't take it personally that your standards haven't been met, life outside your little world continues on...happy as ever. I hope for your sake in RL you're a more positive and open minded person and not just a lump of turd on an otherwise optimistic thread. As for the vids, nice to see a long edit with a huge variety of planes. The bomb falls blew me away, thought I was watching a 3D animated cinematic with fall detail. The ship wakes and smoke plums also look great. I'm done looking at this sim, I'm ready to experience it. TALLY HO! |
I think HHPauk has also done a fantastic job with this edit of all of the previous footage. Great soundtrack too. I would say it compares well with the new video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGUVu5_JW94 |
The video is again very very nice and is very well made, but again i would be far happier with hearing some in game sound and seeing some non edit in game footage from the pilots view.
Also still waiting for the development videos from over a month ago that were ready and just needed some translation. Thanks Oleg but any chance of hearing COD before i spend my cash? |
Awesome videos! The game looks phenomenal
Thanks Oleg and team! @furbs - there was a leaked video that showed in game sounds and in game cockpit action. Not only did it look great, it sounded great as well. This was an early beta version. I could only imagine what it looks like now. I take it you didn't see it? |
