Exactly, what is a couple weeks delay compared to all the years of play to come?

I just saw this today..

If everything went well they may have made a March release, but it didn't.

Chivas, excuse my ignorance and the bone question, you seem very well connected to the team, are you part of it?

The argument there was Europeans have to wait a month for U.S. movies, so it's even as far as U.S. possibly having to wait a few more weeks to play the game. There's a large difference in entertainment factor there. Not to mention I don't know of any movies (personally) that have a rabid fan base of people and forums, waiting 5 or 6+ years for it to be released. Regardless, I don't see why anyone has to wait longer than the other. <insert release date here>, 12:00am Russian time, release the thing internationally. Done deal, everyone's happy, nobody has to wait longer.

I'm not dissing the game, not dissing UBI (at the moment), and definitely not dissing Oleg or the 1C crew. Merely just expressing my displeasure at having to wait another month to play this game that I've been waiting so long for, that's had a target release date up until approximately a week from release. :)

I thought the 25th was given as a solid date, or do you mean that they made changes after they gave out the 25th date to the games industry? Doesnt really make sence to do it that way round, by that I mean if you keep tweaking and tweaking all the way till the date your game is ment to go gold couldnt that just go on indefinately? Besides apparently it went gold last week according to a russian games site.

They are working on the sim fixing bugs etc until they decide enough is enough and it goes gold. If the game went gold last week, there still wasn't enough time to send it to the publishers and have them release the product for March 25th. The publishers need atleast three weeks or more to press and ship the disks.

furbs 03-17-2011 10:42 PM

so that would mean the download shouldnt be delayed then?

lol, and to think all of us have been blaming Ubisoft when all along it was Oleg holding the release dates up. Its great to have an insider on here, give us a shout Chivas when its ready to go gold.

Its obvious at this point the publisher isn't interested in releasing the download before the hard copy.

Its obvious that publisher can't release the product until after the sim goes gold. There has been no gold annoucement other than the rumored gold release in russia last week. Like I said before the publisher needs a few weeks or more before they can publish and ship the product. Thats if they don't decide not to do more testing with their own people which sometimes happens.

You keep patting yourself on the back for predicting delays to the release. Delays are the most obvious prediction a person can make with gaming software.

Come on guys... i just made a small joke. Maybe i missed the right smiley or the "irony" tags.

I second the things about the long lasting fun of games (especially this one). I dont wanted to compare the entertainment factor of movies and games . I´m into IL2 from the very beginning (beta) until now (1946) and i´m really confused and annoyed about UBI´s "tactic" here. Silent Hunter 5 was the same dilemma...

Anyway... dont crucify me
But if you want to... just wait till i´ve played CoD at least one time:mrgreen:

Guys, today we received the confirmation from Ubisoft that the release date for EMA region is set to 31 March.

Guess I missed the joke. My apologies for ranting. This just want the first time I've seen something like this mentioned and I spoke up this time. ;-)

Unless 1C has DD rights. In which case they could guarantee 3/25 for DD, and Ubi would need a bit more time to press and box. Ilya did say a while back that they knew DD "should be available globally" but he couldn't say the same for boxed copies.

If not I don't understand why Oleg seems to be out of the information loop.

wildone_106 03-18-2011 02:17 PM

Uhm I know what Oleg just said, but the OFFICIAL Ubi store has it APRIL 26th?! WTF is goin on!!:(:-x

41Sqn_Banks 03-18-2011 02:23 PM

Possibly there are 3 release dates:
March 25 for Russia (1C)
March 31 for Europe (Ubi)
April 26 for USA (Ubi)

It's not in Olegs hands, they've delivered the gold version to 1c and Ubi now its up to them to publish it, im sure he can push them or have an impact in the end its now up to the publishers.

Nike-it 03-18-2011 02:28 PM

Looks like the US release is really on 26th April:(

wildone_106 03-18-2011 02:29 PM

I know, not blaming Oleg of course.

Yea April 26th:(:(:(

Is it not localized for the U.S. yet or is the timing just due to physical discs being made? You'd think they wanna encourage digital downloads as it saves them money on production.

WOW it sucks to be me right now. Girlfriend gone to france for ten days and all I could think about was all the time I was going to have to fly this sim. Of course ubi would screw me and release it the day she comes back home from her trip. Sigh. Someone throw me a pity party. :-(

Royraiden 03-18-2011 02:57 PM

Maybe the release for the download version worldwide will be on the 25th of march and the CE will be out on different dates depending on region?? Im just trying to be hopeful :(

Considering that the ubi store says 26th April for digital download, I think were SOL man...

wildone_106 03-18-2011 03:33 PM

If the Russian version is out on March 25th, I'll cancel my pre-order and get that instead..someone will find a hack to get the localization to english right;)
