Thankyou, look's excellent...can you comment as to spit/and possible 109 manual. Thanks for your hard work:grin: |
I don't think we will hear anything more now from Oleg until the announcement.
|

Thats probably because of the name change. "IL2: Storm Of War - Battle Of Britain" is no more, hence the "removed from sales". Preorder "IL2 Sturmovik: Cliffs Of Dover" and ull be right back on track. ;) |
Oleg. Thanks for the update, it is looking great!

Excellent news....
|
its getting close now...
poor Oleg on 'vacation' whilst someones 'leaks' the box art and other big news..... I suspect nefarious deeds - Ilya please cancel the project before someone else complains about how the grass is greener on the other side of the pond...not that it will gain much 'traction' in a flight sim of this magnitude mind you |
How far away are the trees and objects visible now?
Everything is looking great! Thanks Oleg. |
Amazing vehicles and ground objects. It's great to see your baby close to a release announcement. Congrats Oleg & Team. :-)
|
Seems like it's so close now that we could probably reach out and touch the DVD box :-P
Excellent details and scenery objects (reclining lawn chairs around the table with the wine bottle, you can almost smell Galland's cigar burning nearby), but what i absolutely can't get over is how pretty the sum of its parts are. It's looking almost real in those ground level pictures and i don't mean photorealistic, but the way your eyes would perceive it. Also, the ambient lighting rocks and the terrain draw distance is insane, especially if you consider that we more or less know it will be manageable for most PCs. We've seen it running a bit jerky on an i5 with 2Gigs of RAM at highest detail settings in the Igrommir expo, so i think i'm going to be very pleasantly surprised with how it runs on my i7, 3GB RAM, Ati 4890, even if i have to turn off a couple of graphics options. Since it doesn't use tessellation yet, i guess most quad cores with a late DX10 series GPU will run it fine for the most part. I might stick an extra 3 Gigs of Ram in there if i need to (windows7 x64 hogs almost a gig, not to mention that i'd probably be running things like TrackIR and Teamspeak in the background as well) but i guess the rest will be more than enough to see it the way it appears in these screenshots and still maintain acceptable frame rates, which is just perfect for me. It's visually excellent so let's hope that along with a release date we'll get some of the really juicy bits in next week's update , like gameplay features/mechanics, sounds or even a full length promotional video that shows it all off. It's finally coming together and in a very good way. Can you hear that guys? It's the sound of cabbage crates coming over the brinney  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rKYL0tW-Ek |
briliant screenshots - looks exciting!!!
I would love to see at some point animated routines of "traffic" concerning people & vehicles within Airfield perimeter dealing with chores around the base. It should get to a point that the enviroment is alive ..... |
Beautiful update, I have to say, that spit formation shot is just beautiful. The landscape, to me, looks perfect.
Is AA and AF a taboo subject, though? I can't image how that would have looked if they had been present.... Excellent work Oleg and co ;) |
Gun emplacement and slit trench interesting showing how objects can be embedded both below ground surface level and above rather than just placed on top. Probably this feature that will allow formation of actual bomb craters rather than simple surface representations?
|
Barrage Balloon
I didn't notice first off but there's a barrage balloon below the right wing tip of the lead Spitfire. Must be quite an altitude.

Could be a stray? That would make things interesting.. he odd rogue barage balloon. |

Nature of missions
I hope in career mode that even if you don't achieve the stated object, that you still are able to continue with the next mission as long as you survive. Continued sub par performance should result in no promotions, assigned inferior equipment, and lastly returned to training or dismissal. Sometimes the task was too much for anyone no matter how skillful, and not every mission allowed for a kill(s).

hey guys!this is maybe a bit off topic and a stupid question, but i dont want to open a new thread because this is certainly answered in one sentence. i always wondered for which reason the balloons are for?what do they do??you are all encouraged to laugh about that lack of knowledge.and excuse my bad english.

some had a parachute attached to a cable designed to break away when struck
grab hold of the plane then act as a drag on it you know the outcome of that |
Quote:
http://www.wellingtont2905.co.uk/ima...%20Drawing.JPG Some worked like this and some had a fixed cable which dragged the plane down. This lead to some interesting German experiments in cable cutting! http://www.bbrclub.org/Heinkelballoonburster.jpg |
do you guys think the anouncement next week will be on friday or already earlier?
|
As the announcement will be coming from ubi and not from OM, nobody, except ubi, can do more than, maybe educated, guesses. :-D
|
I felt a great disturbance in the Flight Sim World, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in joy and rumors were suddenly silenced. I fear something awesome has happened.
Thanks Oleg. Quote:

"I would like to say about incorrect information of release date"
I think that is all that was said on the matter...could be March first, or October 2nd for all we know:grin: |
Yep. Page one of this thread. Are you guys sure you looked all over?

My biggest concern is when was the Beta testing held? We jump from 90% complete to a semi-official release date, completed box art etc...
No real info on system specs, especially online specs. And what about the DRM. (please this is not a rant for or against the drm, Really I do not care what they use as long as it actually works, ubisofts always on did not. If they have fixed it fine, but SH5 proved what happems to a game used as an experiment. I have that sinking feeling that this is being rushed out the door with the normal Ubisoft "We will patch it if people buy it" attitude. What they did to Silent Hunter 5 made me sick! That said loved the screenshots and i am betting I upgrade my computer very soon lol. |
One thing I would like to know is when a publisher announces when a game is coming out is that it...does it come out on that date? Didn't Oleg say something about that in November? Someone in here must know how it works.

UBI are just a dead loss, with no longevity interests in a game/sim. |
Well ubi will want it out the door ASAP,finished or not.

Does he mean the IL-2 site?
http://il2-sturmovik.de.ubi.com/en/il2.php Or the Hyperlobby. Hyperlobby is excellent. http://hyperfighter.sk/ |
I'm sorry but just to add but is it the offline fliers who don't know about the Hyperlobby? The limmet in Spits VS 109s is up to 92 know I think, that's a lot of people or is that what is meant by a dedicated server...I'm a little foggy on this one :)

Can we add new maps on it? I remember Oleg told that it has inbuild mapmakingtools and even possibilty to add new planes.
I'm hoping and praying that the tools are there. kap |
Ubisoft may not be the best company, but they have supported IL-2 for many years and it appears they are still involved in supporting the new series starting with The Cliffs of Dover.
As far as missing features. People are suggesting that there will not be a German Campaign in the initial release. We do not know that. Yes Maddox Games was still working on the campaign a couple of weeks ago, but that doesn't mean it won't make the initial release. The same goes for the new clouds. That said.... IF these features don't make it they will be added later. |

Does Ubisoft even host patches for games that are not their front line A++ titles?
Also . . . . Silent Hunter IV . . . yah, let that one sink in. |

Also Ubisoft has a bad habit of laying off dev teams as soon as a game is released (if they have that control over them). There have been a few instances where a dev team was fired the day after release and they had issues patching games because the devs had either moved on or refused to work with Ubisoft again. Sadly this is starting to become a common practice amongst other companies as well. |
Yepp it is all about the fast money, although that is nothing new.....just look at old cars how thick the sheet metal is and how thick it is on todays cars. Things have to be out to the customer fast, and if possible only last a minimal amount of time, so that the people will buy something new again. Unfortunately a wide spread policy in most industries.
Yes Silent Hunter V has been sunk by Ubi, just need to read the critques at amazon on SH V never seen a game get so fast so many negative comments than that one. But I guess they have to learn the hard way. |

ha ha less weight thin sheetmetal to meet gov mandate fuel standards |

I think Oleg brings a little cred to whatever Ubi is going "to do" with this title. |
