It would be interesting to know more about the fate of the team members, but in any case thank you for all the fun and years of Il-2 greatness. I have to admit I was never the biggest fan of CoD, but I appreciate all the effort put into it and it would be a relief to hear you're doing ok.

And Luthier, from someone who can at least to an extent relate with the challenges you face in your job; thanks for the effort and best of luck to you in your future endeavors, be it BoS or something entirely different.

Thanks Luthier, for nothing really.

Best I can tell , he was dealt a pretty bad hand he had to work with. I think he deserves thanks for getting it to the level it did with the last patch, considering what he had to work with.

Nah, I wont forget all the bull crap he gave us before release, the faked 'leaked video' showing the game running well, and then the Epilepsy filter lie, then the SLI bollocks, then the SDK, the merge with BOM.... etc etc etc.

Christ Cranky, you'd think you had nothing else going in your life but this, I'd like to see your evidence about this "the Epilepsy filter lie" and the faked "leaked video" and I don't mean just you ranting on like a spoilt little ADD child, actual REAL evidence.

Luither did what he could with what he had, and I for one applaud the work he did.
I've had a lot of fun with CLOD.

About sums it up for me as well.

Now, you will enjoy nice little furball over Stalingrad maybe in 2014 with no ground targets or only few of them that the new ND egine supports Tree ?

Are you happy now ?

Edit : Thank you very much Luthier and the team for trying to give us WW2 flightsim !

We got one but I was hoping for sequels.

Cranky, Jasons just said - "We want to give this to you, but we can only get there if you give us a fair shot and your support"

It was just as true for Luthier and the COD team. Sad thing is they were never give that simple curtesy.

Guess it's really hard for some leopard to change their spots, it will be interesting to see which attitudes and vindictiveness are transfered to BOS.

It sucks that the new il2 series is stillborn. What we have right now is playable and I was looking forward to other theatres. The CloD engine looked perfect for the air to ground combat on the Eastern Front. Since this is not going to happen I'm looking forward to see what the merged team can come up with.

I have been playing RoF since it was released. Bought pretty much all aircraft and think they have a good bussiness model. What made RoF work for me is all the unknown aircraft from the era. Just fun to see what they could do. With WWII I'm much more familiar and know allready that I won't be buying more than maybe 10 aircraft. In Il2-1946 and RoF I ended up flying maybe 5 aircraft on a regular basis. So, if you want me to buy airplanes you better also sell me the theatre maps to go with the planes.

Goodbye Luthier and thanks for at least having the program stable before deepsixing it! Still keeping my fingers crossed that in a year or 5 someone ressurects it with better average hardware around.

Is it just me or is there not a huge DUHHH to be placed in here somewhere.. Some of you people act as if IL2 is dead..

Dear Pilots,
Today we announced a new partnership between 1C and 777 Studios and the next product in the Sturmovik legacy – IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad.

Both 1C and 777 Studios have entered into this arrangement with the best of intentions, which are to make quality combat flight simulation products that you enjoy (Rise of Flight, IL-2 Sturmovik). Both companies share a deep desire to see the flight-simulation genre succeed and thrive. And both companies have already spent millions of dollars and countless sleepless nights trying to make products that the flight-simulation community loves. We believe our past effortsare an indication that our motivations in this genre are sincere and our dedication to this niche of PC gaming has always been and will remain strong.

This development may come as a surprise to some in the community, but we are not here to argue about it.
By combining the best talent, management and technology we feel that it will be easier to overcome the technical, financial and industry related challenges that are unique to the flight-simulation genre. But it’s still not going to be easy and we still need the community’s support. There is no unlimited budget or endless release schedule. We hope that all of the virtual pilots out there in the community understand the challenges we face and will choose to stand with us in this new enterprise and help us make a brighter future for the entire combat flight-simulation genre.
We’re sure you will have questions about the upcoming product.
Warmest Regards,
The Team
