AFAIK it takes maybe one afternoon to compile all the map stuff into 4.09 so the time exactly can not be the issue. Maybe there are some other considerations.. (like "no winter Slovakia for you boys until you make the beta version of BoB" :D)

Why not?
And don't tell me it's because there are no 4.09b servers on Hyperlobby. There are dogfight and coop servers available.

There is also an easy switcher that will let you play both with the click of a mouse.

It IS an option.

Its time used to trace every bit of code be it script, sound or terrain and all the rest to see if the modder accidentally lifted it from other copyrighted sources.
An ardious task at best.
While a modder will not be chased down by other game/music/software distributers a publisher of 1C's standing will.
So in a nutshell (it has been repeated at nausium in the various threads) until they are sure no copyright infringements have taken place 4.09 will remain a beta product.

Why not just accept 4.09b as an official patch. I have found it odd that some players still won't run 4.09 because it's a "beta" !
HL DF's are nearly all 4.08 aswell, considering that the beta's been about for such a long time and that the official 409 is a long way off, it's about time people embraced 409b as an official patch so we can have some sort of level ground to play on.

Yes, and to run a DS you would have to run the game itself in order to use 4.09m beta... NOT going to happen. That is why we refuse to go 4.09m. If there would be a beta erlease of DS package... we would care not, i'm sure.

In the 3rd party content (maps) there are no "sounds, scripts or terrain" to be checked for legal reasons. To put the final 4.09 with the content of beta, it takes few hours maybe at max.

As far as SOW goes, people "in the know" never gave any ETA of SOW... they suggested some dates as possibilities, but nothing concrete. Unfortunately "some" publisher and several retailers had their own look at how development of SOW is going and produced their own dates, which created nothing but confusion.

Thank You Ivan, that explanes it.

Maybe Maddox should hire you :) If it was a matter of few hours, it would have been done long time ago ;)
