It was the primary fighter of the fleet until Fulmars were introduced in late 1940, and it was retained on ARK ROYAL until winter 1941 to be used as a dive bomber. It is absolutely necessary for any Norwegian Campaign scenarios, and equally necessary for 1940 Mediterranean scenarios.
Here are two recent, excellent books on the Skua: http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/?product_id=1277 http://www.hyperscale.com/2007/revie...reviewbg_1.htm and a very good model: http://www.hyperscale.com/2007/revie...reviewbg_1.htm |
The closest thing to a Skua in IL-2 would probably be the Su-2?
Maybe some of our talented skinners could make a Skua skin for the Su-2? Skarphol |
It's not even close. The Su-2 has a turret and, more important, armor. Also, it was incapable of vertical dive attacks. The Skua had a cradle, like the Ju 87, to throw the bomb outside the prop arc.
