I didn't understand that first bit of the film where that alien walks along a river, eats some poison then falls into the river, while a tear-drop shaped ship leaves orbit above ??

or was I watching another film ??

Some flaws in logic & plot , but I'd put it in the top ten of Sci-Fi Flicks I have seen & I've seen quite a few.Did not see it in 3D but didn't miss it either.Would definately see it again!

Really high production values but ultimately a dissatisfying film. A lot of it didn't gel and it could have been much better.

If it had been a stand alone film without the Alien franchise behind it then it may have been better, but I'm not convinced. There aren't many films I've finished watching and that "Oh, was that it?"

Just my opinion of course.

Maybe?

Its interesting to see how this movie has been finally received.

As a long time Alien/Aliens fan I still love it, but remember too, Ridley is not daft, he wants us to talk and think about this film.

He could have quite easily made it a direct seamless prequel to Alien ... and as far as I know that was his original intention ... sometimes I wish it was, but part's of me likes this tangent too.

Remember too that Bladedrunner was absolutely slated upon its release, by critics and fans of the genre too.

I think we will eventually get a Directors cut or different edit in a Blu ray release? remember too that Alien 3 was an odd movie to start with, but after its Dir cut ... it made a lot more sense.

WTF?????
Somebody pm me the solution to the riddle pls...

The last time we had at least the monkeys jumping around the stone...(Space Odyssey) :D

Sci Fi effects: Amazing
Story: Excellent
The last 1/4 of the movie: dissapointing
The last scene (that thing that comes out): I was running out of the cinema screaming...the biggest dissapointment ever! LOL

It all makes a lot more sense the more you think about it.

I think too, that any sufficiently advanced civilisation would send to Earth many different crafts of all shapes and forms, after all, we can send up everything from Spitfires to F35's, why do we pick at an Alien movie that shows something different from the original concept?

Watched it opening night, it was a disappointment, sadly.

Maybe. We know it wasn't meant to be a direct prequel but there were too many questions that don't really lead anywhere and some aspects that didn't make sense. I hope that any follow up matches our expectations for this film.

To anyone who has yet to see it, go and see it but as a standalone film nothing to do with Alien. It might be more rewarding that way.

Its all good.

The more I think about it the more I think James Cameron should do an action addition to this prequel to appease the masses ... Scott and Cameron have already sat in a room and discussed this, so you never know!

Seriously, I always thought most fans off the series were more biased to Aliens action than Alien exploring But I like both types.

And finally after all these years I have a new Alien movie and am loving it and that's all that matters.
