No, tater, that is the problem.

The rendering-distance for the clouds won't be changed, as this would be too much work. So you basically see a lot more land, but the clouds pop up in front of it, when you get closer.

Especially from altitude it looks a bit odd (maybe even more than before  ).

Ah, I see, they don't wanna do it.

Seems like it would be somewhat trivial to increase (a visibility distance edit), the only work would be making fps friendly (they'd likely need more LODs, etc, I can see this being more work). I'd rather have it as an option, though, FPS be damned. :)

Exactly, tater.

But making it a simple increase will cause a dramatic loss in FPS for a number of users, so there is no simple "Change value to..."

But implementing an option to do that, making precautions people cannot find a hole by that to deactivate clouds on servers with clouds enforced and stuff like that, means a lot of work and even positioning the button in some options screen would cost time that is lost on SoW.

Well, it's likely a VisibleDistanceFar=4000 change to 10000 or something like that. Adding it to conf.ini likely takes some work (such that a certain number maps to a certain vis distance.

Like =3 would be the 4000m we have, then add a new one, =4 for 10000 and so forth.

Wait...

Make far clouds optional.

Near clouds for all....but allow far clouds also for those who want them.

Far clouds are too far away to exploit -- well beyond aircraft dot ranges. Is this Correct Thinking?

Let me clarify.

By Perfect I meant CLEAR weather, not perfect mode in graphics (that is: Hardwareshaders=1). It is understood that the shaders must be on to see the extra vis.

What I am asking is for the 72km not to be limited to CLEAR weather only, but also available in Good and Hazy. If this is already going to be the case, then my apologies.

It is going to be available only in clear conditions.

Oh, for Pete's sake, WHY? We will NEVER see it online on DF servers, because Clear weather is NEVER used.

* Added a new mode for increased visibility distance.
Visibility increased from 36 km to 72km
under "Clear" and "Good" weather conditions.
Please, please leave it the way it is in the BETA.

Where is the debate thread about this or something?

You guys throw in a great new option into the game and then totally want to take it away. There is NO reason why 72km should not be available in Good weather.

Yes, please leave it the way it is in the beta. Otherwise it could be a step backwards...
