I just had a quick look around and as I said the only manufacturer to make 2gb models of the 560 and 570 is EVGA and they have one model for each.

580's normally come with 2gb of vram, but there are a couple more brands that offer a 3gb model of the 580.

Wrong and wrong. ;)

580s come with 1.5 GB or 3 GB of ram (never 2 GB, because of memory bus width) and here in Europe you can buy a 2.5 GB GTX 570 from Point of View, too. http://geizhals.at/653866

I would definatly recommend the GTX 580 with 3 GB for CloD.

TODAY I can run the sim with a GTX 560Ti with textures in "Original" without stutters.

It's now near a "normal" game regards textures. No need to 3GB VRAM to run in "not so big" resolutions with decent textures.

This issue is much improved in last patches.

Sorry, I was wrong with the 2gb 580, of course it's 1.5gb and yes the EVGA gtx570 has 2560mb of vram.

However, I would recommend a gtx580 with 3gb of vram as well........right now if money isn't an issue.......in a year or so when the 580s are second best. I do never buy the best out on the market, since after a relatively short time something better will come out, and the state of the art card I just bought drops dramatically in price.
If you buy "second best" you should always be in good shape and save quite a substantial amount of money. Still got some bills to pay and a family to feed. I have told the power company so many times already, power my house for free, I need a new video card, but they just don't want to listen

GPU ram chart usage ?

Zan,
I have the GTX570 1.3 GB RAM, and I would spend the extra $20-30 to own the 2.5GB ram 570.

Would you like a chart showing GPU RAM usage?

Hi guys,

I would like to ask you for an opinion.

Im planning to do this kind of upgrade:
-Intel Core i7 960 3.2GHz BOX
-ASUS Sabertooth X58 "Gaming Series" Motherboard
-CORSAIR DDR3 3x4096MB CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 DHX

And now the question:

I am going to upgrade my rig as described above but I am a bit undecided regarding VGA choice. Yes I know that the finest choice would be something like GTX580 3078MB GDDR5 but guys what do you think about an Nvidia GTX480 1536MB GDDR5?

Would It be acceptable to use the GTX480(which I currently own) together with the new PCU, memory, etc.?

Thanks

Best regards ;)
