Whole new sound engine and sound samples that will fix numerous sound-related bugs in the game like that one.

Apparently the first "New" sound pack to be released as a Beta in a few day will be sounds for the trains. Fantastic news. Realistic train sounds were one feature missing in this.

There was no mention of an 'Open Beta' or that we would be able to download it. We were just told it should be in beta testing for at least a week and that the beta testing should start about two weeks after the last update post.

I like everyone else hope that the patch development has gone to schedule and that the beta patch will be open but that is just wishfull thinking on my part!

Cheers!

They talked about releasing a set of AI trains for use in missions, not just sound for trains. The sound thing is a completely separate thing, even though they want to include it in the same patch. So, the plan is sounds for everything plus some AI train models, not just sounds for trains ;-)

+1
Was playing WWII Fighters up til a year or so ago in a LAN multiplayer, introducing my nephews to flight sims. The music was very good at building up atmosphere in the sim.

Well there's no need for video:

Fire up the sim, select the Luftwaffe attack mission (the one that spawns you a few miles out of Manston), get in a 110 with a couple of bombs and reduce RAF aircraft quantities to zero.

As you are coming in over the coast you'll see Manston, skirting it's western boundary is a bit of road with some vehicles and further on you'll see a train and a railway track among two rows of trees. Make a couple of passes at the engine and you'll see the boiler going up and steam spreading all over ;-)
