thanks everyone, on my way to build my new pc, some people say to wait for dozer or ivy but there's no way I can wait another year or what ever the time frame is. Graphics card is another story, might get 570, would love the 580 3 gb version but it's over 500 bucks, 6970 would be my first option but it's got those 3 blue lines there still trying to work out I hope, Any thoughts?

I had an E8600 which I painstakingly overclocked to 4.5GHz...the 2500K does that straight out of the box (with good cooler/ram/and motherboard obviously )THING IS I havent tried THAT hard but I reckon this baby aint gonna go much higher.I think I read that Intel state that only 1% of them will do 5GHz.At STOCK speed the E8600 was faster at SPi 1M benchmark around 10.5 vs 11secs but the 2500k does 8.5 secs Overclocked !STILL isnt running ClOD anyway fast though ....just gettin by...

I did the Prime95 "torture test". No issue at all. But the toughest test was CloD itself ... LOL!

PS: the PSU wattage recommendations in forums et alike are normally grossly overestimated. The online PSU sizing tools are run by PSU manufacturers, that should tell it all. You shouldn't save in quality, that's still true, but my 2 years old VX550 runs without an issue with my vid card and overclock.

Rgr! prime is pure torture... I also agree with you regarding CloD.

I'm afraid you do. Sandy bridge CPU's use a different socket (LGA 1155).

Yeah, most people can achieve acceptable OC's with the default cooler.

Are you running any OC in your system?
