XWA was the first PC game I played. It was like a dream come true. I still remember when I got to the death star attack on the last level.
I am going to dig out the cd and try out that advanced mod, many thanks for the link

Agree it's high time for lucasarts to do another in the series. I can only dream how close it would be to looking like the films with the current hardware

No problems chaps, I hope you enjoy the mods as much as I did and still do from time to time.

There are some great single missions that players have created too. Some are so indepth they've created whole new ships but I just stick to the basic ones. I think Darksabers page has a lot of the missions from memory if it's still up and running. THere was also a good one made which was the evacuation of echo base - basically the first mission of the game but from the point of view of a Xwing fighter and what we briefly see in the movies or have read in the books. Really well done.

Links should be on the XWA page and I think Ace Antillies made the echo base mission if you want to search for it. It only requires some very basic editing to get them to work. If I can do it anyone can as I'm far from PC savvy.

Totally agree though a new Xwing or Tie series on the 360/PS3/PC would be gold. Just give us those old games with updated sound and graphics and ill be stoked. LA dropped the ball a decade ago though - XWA was their last decent game in my opinion which was around 2002 I think. Since then they've produced nothing but rubbish.

Thanks for the PM and the info Burton, I will definately try the mods out soon.

I have to say 2005 and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was their last great game. 2003 being the year of Knights of the Old republic, another of my favourite ever games. Lucasarts lost a lot of repect with the cancelation of Battlefront III and now they just don't have the developers to do anything but lego games. Sad.

The guys that did Battlefront and Battlefront 2 (pandemic) left the Battlefront series and did the morerecent "lord of the rings conquest" on the 360.... and what a load of crap it was.

A battlefront 3 would be a great game.

Up until recently Battlefront 2 was playableon the 360 and over xbox live if youhad it as an xbox original game, but since they've now removed the ability to play old xbox games AND removed the old xbox live then its just not possible anymore.

Shame really because it was great fun on xbox live, doing the space missions where it was just all space warfare!!starting as a rebel pilot on your start destroyer and getting in your chosen craft (y-wing) and attacking the imperial star destroyers and seeing other players either doing the same or engaging the tie fighters....

Imiss that game!!

You can still play Battlefront 2 on your 360 Foz. I did just the other day. You just can't connect to live while playing it so no online. Its not quite the same playing against AI though, nothing like as much fun, I only played a couple of games on the Hoth level and then a space battle before I got bored and put in the BoP disk instead :)

LucasArts' canceling of BF3 sucked so much. Not only did it kill that game but it killed the company developing the game too (don't remember their name right now), so that also ment no more Timesplitters series games aswell :(

The developers were pandemic studios. They guys who did lord of the rings conquest on the 360...which was mediocre at best.

Yeah Pandemic did BF1 and BF2. Lucasarts then gave the series to Free Radical (the developers of the timesplitters games) for BF3. The late in development cancelation of BF3 caused Free Radical to go bankrupt. I think the developers had to start their company again under a new name. EDIT: There we go, wikipedia tells me they were bought by Crytek and became Crytek UK.

Guys there are still lots of players on BF1 and 2 on PC. There are also some mods for BF2 to increase the number of star destroyers etc. They are both cheap as chips on PC from Amazon and you dont need a powerfull pc to run them:

True I did forget about the original Kotor that was a cracker - my mistake. Kotor 2 not so hot but they were 2 of their last decent games. I didn't really get in to SWBF so I can't comment. George should shelve his live TV series as much as I want to see it and pump some coin back in to the games which are probably a truck load cheaper to make.
